      Dreamed I was dreaming

      Arrgh,

Last night I really should have became lucid.

I had a huge long vivid dream, in the middle of which I decided the first part of the dream was a dream and then dreamed I wrote it down in my dream journal!

Anyone else done anything like this?

What made it worse was that there were several dream signs that I missed.

I dreamed I had to go to a work social event arranged by this unpopular IT CIO I work for in RL. The dream was based in England - whereas I have lived in Chicago for the last 5 years. Normally dreaming of England is a dream sign that makes me realise I am dreaming. I was living in house I have never livied in and was waiting for a colleague that I used to work with (but havent for the last few years) to join me so we would go together to the social event. I remember vividily using mapquest.com to get directions, but did not print them out - which even occured to me as a stupid thing for me to do later in the dream. In the dream I memorised the directions - and remember walking with my old colleague, taking left and right turns through a town I have never seen before. We got lost in a station car park - but when we walked to the back of it we found the rear entrance onto the road we were looking for - I can still remember the name of the road now. We ended up on the outskirts of the town we were headed for. A seaside town called Bideford Bay - Im pretty sure this is a real town in England but one I have never visited. The road split into two country tracks that led into the town and we had no idea which to take. We were joined suddenly by my wife and a couple we socialise with who have nothing to do with my job yet were going to the same work social - another dreamsign missed.

We ended up at a run down old pub trying to find a map to where the meeting place was. At the pub, as well as being given a red dogeared old map and directions from a blonde bar maid I have never met, I sat in the beer garden and decided the walk to the pub must have been a dream because of the guy I dont work with anymore was with me! My dream journal was suddenly with me and I started writing about the dream, I even got angry when everyone told me to put it away as we had to go now we had the map.

I wont go on with the rest of the dream as it went on and on - but included a whole host of other "oddness" that I really should have recognized.

The wierdest part was when I woke up this morning. I had had another seperate dream which I remembered when I woke and so opened my dream journal to write it down. I was actually shocked that the dream above had not been written down already - thats how real the expereince was. Even though I knew I was dreaming in the dream it was so real that I expected to see the dream recorded in my journal in the morning!

Dreaming about a strange blend of work people, people from my past and family is a frequent dreamsign. Annoyingly I had tried to incubate a dream before falling asleep about an even more frequent yet unrelated dreamsign/scenario.

I thought it was not a good idea to try and focus on any more than one scenario/sign when incubating a dream. I have 5 or so key dream signs - it would be good to try to focus on all before bed - but not sure this will work.

It was odd that my mind relaized I was dreaming while dreaming - but I did not become lucid - I must have rationalized this to myself somehow by choosing to write the dream down rather than make the connection and become aware.

The word of sin is restriction - Thou hast no right but to do what thy will.

When I was younger I use to false awake and get ready for school... In my dream I'd think if I don't hurry I'm going to miss the bus... I'd here the bus pull up and hear the horn and wake up to miss the bus (As it's pulling away)...Think about how weird and annoying that is...

I've thought about dreams while dreaming but never tried to write about them..
One thing I can say though is I've had dreams so similar to waking life that I thought I put something somewhere or already spoke to someone about something.. (Akward lol)

I've had that happen to me quite a few times. It's awfully frustrating, but it's actually a good sign. You had the presence of mind to think you were dreaming, but you didn't achieve lucidity. The worst part is that you won't bother reality checking since you think you're already lucid!

I find these to be infinitely more enjoyable than a 'normal' non-lucid dream, but again... very frustrating when you wake up and realize the opportunity you barely missed.

I've had that happen from time to time, not often though. I've dreamt that I woke up and went about my day-to-day routine like normal to the point of ending my day in bed. Then I woke up and was like WTH! I have to do this crap all over again??? It happens when I have a lot on my mind, usually school related.
