Writing down dreams in middle of th night?

To improve dream recall it recommends to wake up in the middle of the night and DJ what you remember. Will this at all effect my brain during the my sleep cycle or during waking hours? Or will my cycle resume as I fall back asleep? I tried Google and the search function, and found no concrete answers. Are there answers? Any of them reliable?
On LD hiatus. Probably will start again around new years.

Or, you know -- randomly throughout this year and next.

You should be fine. When do you plan on waking? I suggest you awaken after your second-to-last REM period (after about six and a half hours of sleep, depending on how much sleep you get per night).

Just don't do anything overstimulating (drinking coffee, listening to rock music, etc?). Wake-back-to-bed is a very common practice among lucid dreaming enthusiasts (and myself).
