You know, the brief feeling you might get while journaling, or brought on by something else in the day. Where it's just enough to know you had a dream, and that it was vivid, but not being able to recall anything more that that, or the moment of slight recall itself.
Is there any way you've figured out for how to get these dreams back? Or is this just like your brain kicking you in the stomach and laughing?
Argh I hate it when that happens!
I find usually reviewing the dream in my head helps. I usually eventually catch on to another fragment. Sometimes random things will help me remember too (someone will mention something in my dream, I'll see something related to my dream, ect.)
Yeah, that works for some, like once I had to go down a stairwell and I remembered a dream with really high, steep stairs.
But I mean the ones where you can't even remember a fragment. just a fleeting feeling. Maybe a brief picture, but nothing concrete.
When this happens to me, I will try to hold whatever tiny fragment of the dream I can remember, even if it's just like one frame of a movie or one tiny association to a feeling...and I will lay or sit still and just cycle through random thoughts in my mind. Often times I notice that I will randomly remember dreams through the course of the day because I will be reminded of it due to experiencing something during my day. I might see a cat that reminded me that I dreamt about a cat. So just cycling through various random thoughts: old house, mom, dad, animal, food, flying, snow, cupcake -> yeah whatever you can think of. Often times I will hit something which strikes a chord and/or helps me to remember more things about the dream, and continue going from there.
