Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Vespertine. I can't stop staring.
Gorgeous Husky, Vespertine. That's one of my favorite breeds of dogs. Very nice. :goodjob2:
hey, thread. time for your WBTB!
I got 7 cats.
In this pic from left to right are Abdul, Shachory, Katyusha, and Barvazon. They are very good freinds as you can see. Abdul took care of them since the were little kittens. I have Abdul since he was a little kitten too. when he was about a year old he disapeared. but two years later I found him! He was several blocks away from where he got lost, and he was still fat and clean as usual...

In this pic you can see Kalpatsion sleeping in his square imitation posture:

And here are 2 pics of the infamous Pumitush AKA puma. She is a slender, noble, ferocious hunter. One of her hobbies is to open up all the drawers she can find and take everything out of them. In these pics she is caught in the act:

Last but not least is Oscar. He is a feral cat. He lives in my house for more then a year now, but whenever I try to touch him he runs away... He is a freind of Shachory though, so he's not too lonely

Those cats and the husky were absolutely beautiful. And very, very cute.
Those are really cute kitties, dodobird. I love their names!
Great pics, dodobird! :smitten: I love when they adore each other like that.
One of my cats, Cloud, used to open drawers and steal all our socks, just like Puma does to you! It's funny how they manage to get them open, isn't it?
Stockey, the guy in my avatar, is my 12 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. We adopted him from our local Humane Society when he was about 7 years old. He's a Canine Good Citizen, registered therapy dog, and was working on his CD title with my husband before we retired him from obedience work. It's been an honor to know a dog of his character: loving, obedient, stoic, intelligent, fun-loving, and loyal.

Lusa's my baby girl. Her name comes from the Choctaw word for black. I found her as a month-old kitten orphaned on the side of our busy street, full of roundworms, coccidia, ear mites, fleas and an upper respiratory virus. She's naughty, playful, and affectionate on her own terms...in other words, the little bit of evil that keeps things interesting around here.

Rescued pets are always the best! Yours are cute, EagleEye.
Awwww, EagleEye! Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing them!
Allright, here are my pets (If I can find pictures of them all). I think all of my cats are American Shorthairs, thought I'm not 100%. They're all related. Here's the mother, named KitKat (we brought her home after my grandmother passed away).

Yes, she's a freaking huge cat. Around 20 pounds or so, maybe 12-14 years old. (Sorry for the crappy quality, taken with webcam.)
Nickey and Lickerish (Brother and Sister, together)

And unfortunately that's all the pictures I have of them right now. I'll take more later.
Very cute kitties, Blueline! :D They are considered Domestic Shorthairs, and KitKat is a calico, and Nickey and Lickerish are orange and white tabbies. Nickey and Lickerish are almost identical! Nice pics :)
:( I want a kitty.
My life feels so empty, here at my college. We can't have pets, and I wish I had one. I LOVE seeing those pets guys, because I miss mine so much. :( But hey, I have a pet plant named Lieta. She's pretty nice, and she never tears anything up. But, not so cute.
Burns, what is the type of Katyusha? here's another pic of her (she also the one in my avatar):

I have a cat - Malinki. She, as you put it Burns, "talks" a lot. For no real reason. She's on a diet atm because she was getting a bit fat. She must be 4 now I think, maybe 5 even. She's a Russian Blue. I have a pic but not sure how to insert it in the post without putting the pic on the internet
Katyusha is also a DSH (domestic shorthair) but her color is tortishell. Torties are usually very spunky cats with a great personality, and they are always female. I love the pic in your avatar. :)
I would love to see a pic - Russian Blues are gorgeous cats!
You can attach the file through DV, and not have to upload the pic through an image hosting site. Make sure the photo is resized to about 640x480 then use the "Add Reply" button (not the Fast Reply), and go to the File Attachments option. Browse to the file on your computer, then click "Add This Attachment".
Burns, since you seem to be the cat expert around here...It is possible for cats to have arthritis? As you can see, KitKat is pretty fat and not so light on her feet.
Katyusha is very friendly, affectionate and gentle, she never flashes her claws out when playing :)
BTW I think I noticed some mental differences between female and male cats: I think that the females often tend to be a little smarter, learning from experience somewhat better and faster than the males, and the females are also a little less patient or tolerant, for example if you hold her in your arms, a female will grow impatient faster than a male. and try to scratch you or get away. Do you think there is any truth in these observations?
Yep, as sloth said, it's definitely possible for cats to get arthritis. Actually, about 90% of cats over the age of 12 have some sort of degenerative arthritic changes, especially cats who are overweight. Cats are mostly affected in their hips, which means they may be reluctant to jump up onto things, and are sometimes stiff to walk after a long nap.
Just like in people, there is no cure for arthritis, since it is a progressive degenerative disease, but you can manage it to help make kitty more comfortable. There are glucosamine chondroitin supplements for cats and dogs that help support the joints and cartilage from further breakdown. Also, once the arthritis becomes bad enough, and the cat is very uncomfortable, pain medication is used to ease the pain and make the cat more comfortable. But the biggest thing you can do for KitKat is to get some weight off her. Weight loss in overweight cats with arthritis is the best way to ease the pain and reduce fast progression of the disease.
I think there is some truth in the difference of general personality in cats based on sex. But there is a huge range in personalities from cat to cat. They are individuals just like people, so it's hard to generalize sometimes.
Ok, thanks. Do you recommend any special diet foods to burn some fat off her? My mom has bought weight loss food for her before, but Nickey doesn't seem to like it and...well, throws it up, most of the time that being on my bed.
Believe me, you do not want to wake up next to a steaming orange pile of cat food.
If she's vomiting within 30 minutes of eating, it's considered regurgitation. You'll usually see whole chunks or kibble in the vomit that hasn't been digested yet. This is usually caused by eating too fast, or eating too much at once. Try reducing the portions fed at a time, or put the dry kibble flat on a plate in a single layer so the cat cannot gulp the food and can only pick up a few kibble at a time, forcing her to eat slower. Sometimes certain foods just don't sit well either, she have more of a sensitive stomach. There are over the counter brands of weight control sensitive stomach foods.
About the weight loss, please see this post - I don't want to re-write all this! hehe. If you have any additional questions, feel free to PM me. :)
Just to correct you, lol: Nickey is throwing up, not KitKat. He doesn't like it :(.
But yeah, as you can probably see in Kitkat's picture, we have a huge feeding thing. I've tried to give smaller portions, but my mom is...well...evil. I'll have to force her to accept smaller bowls.
My mom mis crazy.
