      WILD attempts

Tonight I'll be going to bed at one and setting my alarm for 5.

I'll stay up for fifteen to twenty minutes browsing DV and dream journals to get me motivated.

I've never been too good with visualization, but thats what i'm going to start with tonight and attempt to paint a dream and enter it.

      Wish me luck!

Failed to WILD but had a very vivid dream. I'm not sure where i went wrong, perhaps i just fell asleep too fast, or i couldn't hold the image in my head long enough idk. Tonight I'll try something different

Maybe instead of setting your alarm for 4 hours set it for 5 or 6?

going to bed now. will attempt another WILD after five hours of sleep.

I'll wake up at six, stay up for half an hour, and attempt to wild using the breathing technique coupled with auto suggestion.

Well I woke up about fifteen minutes before my alarm went off because a dream had just come to an end. I figured that was good enough and stayed up for those fifteen minutes reading WILD tutorials. I laid back down and began counting each breath and thinking to myself "I am dreaming" on each exhale. Unfortunately i lost it somewhere in the 50's and drifted to sleep. Also i took a couple vitamin B6's before going to sleep and didn't notice much difference in the vividness of the dream compared to the one I had previously woken up from

It sounds like so far your main problem is being able to stay conscious through the WILD process. Are you a deep sleeper?

A few options you can try are getting up later, like you have, say WBTB after 7 hours or 8 (on a day you have time to sleep in). Or you could extend the WBTB period. During WBTB you may want to do something more involved than reading--something that stimulates your mind, like a puzzle.

i'm not sure? I guess i sleep deep enough, i try not to let things wake me up. I'll try something like that tonight, maybe i'll play soduku or something. Anyway my work schedule just got all messed up and I'm going to be working another job in the morning for a couple weeks, so to continue my WILD training I have to go to bed earlier. I wanted to do six hours of sleep tonight, but I'm moving back to four and staying up for half an hour. I'll try some autosuggestion as I go to sleep tonight, because I'm also in the DILD class and I'll incorporate that into my WBTB WILD attempt as well. So I'll be going to bed about 10:30 and waking up at 2:30. Lets try this again.

Soduku would be perfect for WBTB.

Good luck with your work schedule. It's pretty tough to WILD if you have work in the morning, but it's doable. And there's always the weekends!

so i completely slept through both of my alarms last night, and didn't have time to dream journal before rushing off to work. So epic fail. But I'm going to try again tonight! Same thing basically except I'm going to go to bed at 11 and get up at 4.

Aww, wow, you must've been tired. It's pretty tough to WILD on a night you have work anyway, so don't beat yourself up over it. You'll still have the weekend, and you can make a few attempts each night on the weekend if you want.

how would I make a few attempts on the weekend? I thought you wake up and WILD, and if you fail, you're done and hope you get a DILD. Anyway last night i actually woke up to all of my alarms and played soduku for a half hour, but no dreams :/ Tonight I'll try giving myself enough time to sit and try and remember

Well, for example--you could set the first alarm for, say 2am, and try to WILD. Then you can have a second alarm set to go off at say, 4 or 5am and try again. Basically repeating every couple of hours. It's perfect since you don't have to worry about losing sleep.

Anyway, don't get discouraged--WILD usually takes a while to learn.
