Tell me about your experiences with dream control....

Hey everyone! I will be on and off the site throughout the entire day, so I figured we could get some interaction going here.

Feel free to post and tell me about some passed experiences with control. You can brag with some successes or let me know your struggles and failures here. I want to hear all the stories . Also, you never know when your story may help/relate to another dreamer.

In this one lucid dream I had I wanted to try going through a wall, which I did and which was pretty awesome. I felt a slight resistance, but it was rather a feeling of energy than a physical one. However, after that I though "Hey, you can walk through walls, you sure as well can fly then!", so I looked out the window of the apartment I was in and decided to run through the window and take off from there. Well...I had about 2 seconds to enjoy the landscape before I started falling towards the ground and waking up before actually hitting it.

I have had very little success at flying. In 2 out of my 4 lucid dreams i have attempted to fly but i always end up just gliding for a short distance. I seem to have no problem changing the dream location though. In my most recent LD i was able to change the dream from a public bathroom to an open field (with random groups of trees) by looking at a door and thinking " on the other side of this will be the outdoors"

Think that's bad? I have never once flew without something like a glider or rocket. When I was starting lucid dreaming and my head was still muddled in dreams, and I couldn't really think straight, I tried to make things, but they didn't turn out as expected, kind of like a corrupted wish. I made a door...from the roof, a basketball...that doesn't bounce. Before I got more self control in my lucids and I was still instinctive and impulsive, I tried to dream up a beautiful girl behind a door, she was really hot...for a 12 year old, this technically wasn't out of my boundary because this was last year and I was 14, but this was still...no...I walked away.

Recently with my dream control, it hasn't been as good because my mind has been like, more conscious and switched on, the part that has the basic laws of nature in it is turned on too, which is what makes it hard, I still fully know it's a dream though. The only things I've been able to do have been telekinesis, which is generally easy for me, and passive DC control, I don't mean passive like Kingyoshi's method, I mean I don't put in any effort at all, DC's follow my rule before I even tell them to.

Lil' short story of my control.

I find it easy to fly, but I find that I cannot control the speed of my flight. I can only fly at a fast jogging pace. I have also tried to electrocute a fat woman using my hands.....I tensed my fingers and a lightening bolt came out but it didn't harm the woman...

In my first lucid dream, I was being attacked by a guy with an Indiana Jones-like whip and in my attempt to escape, I tried to teleport. I thought of my school, closed my eyes, but when I opened them, I was still on the same street, so I grabbed a large paper bag of some kid, and shoved it over my head. Sure enough I was still in the exact location.

3 seconds later, I appeared at the front door of my house with the front door wide open, I walked in, and woke up...

I can fly easily also; however, I tend to fly at high speeds. Sure, this is fun (especially since all of my flights over the past year or so have been from using the Mark V Iron Man suit), but it's bugging me that I don't know a slower method of flying.

One time in a lucid, I smashed through the main foyer window of my house because I was going so fast. There wasn't a scratch on me (thank god).

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I tried flying in a lucid for the first time last night and I couldn't quite pull it off. I kept jumping higher and higher in the air but no actual flight. By the end of it I was jumping a good twenty feet distance at a time which was still pretty cool. In my past couple lucids I have also tried manifesting various things but that has yet to work correctly as well. There was a point in last nights lucid where the dream was beginning to fade and I was in a kind of grey static but rubbing my hands together really helped stabilize the dream and brought me back into the scene. I have never had very much control at all so I'm looking forward to improving it, last nights lucid will be such an inspiration.

Flying isn't usually a problem for me and I can usually go through walls without trouble, but it depends on the dream. I think I'm getting better at stabilizing and staying in the dream even when it starts to fade.
I have trouble with most other control. I think fundamentally it is a problem with confidence.
I have tried many times to summon people and things, and most of the time it doesn't work, even when I tell myself that it will, and try to fully expect it.
A few times I've had success with indirect control. I've made things happen by finding a button to press to make it happen. One time I said that kicking a tree would make a castle appear, and it did.
The hardest thing for me to do seems to be summoning people. I want to meet my dream guide and another character that I have met a few times in past lucid dreams. I've tried all the basics, looking around corners, opening doors, turning around, calling out for them. None of it has worked.

In the two lucid dreams I have had, I usually only come halfway with whatever I try to do. In my first lucid I tried to fly, and instead jumped really high. I did manage to turn people into things though (Such as a bug to step on or a yoshi), just not myself. When I myself have tried to transform into a dragon instead I got just the claws. I have also managed to do DC hypnosis, although it was more like suggestion. It was kind of awesome.

Just had a lucid dream last night and I was trying to do all kinds of stuff with fire. I was able to shoot a fireball from my hand but it was small and not very vivid and it had no effect on the surroundings when it hit a wall. I also tried making a wall of fire but could not get this to work. I tried some passive control by telling my sister I had a fully ripe pot plant growing on the side of the house but when I went over there I could only find weeds. I'm getting some practice in, can't wait until I have more dream control

Is it ok to post and join in? Do I have to formally sign up anywhere?

Last night I broke my exam dryspell with a WBTB lucid (30 minutes stayed up at 4am) and my 10th lucid and only the 3rd with much control, I have no idea what it was that brought about my lucidity but lying in my bed doing multiple nose pinches. But once again I found myself stuck in the bed, no vision, no voice, unable to work my stubbornly immobile limbs. This scenario had already occurred during the night and I had fought it so hard that I woke myself up, I always freak ought that it might become a lucid nightmare with me paralysed on the spot.

Anyway this time I just chilled and waited with my eyes closed, as soon as I had any ability to move I hauled myself up, literally grabbing my open window frame (my bed is by my window). Now a really odd thing happened. I asked the dream how to stabilize my vision and movement and writing formed in condensation on the window, it looked like a forum post tutorial and even though I couldn't read it, I knew that it was telling me to immerse myself in the dream, it told me to focus on the dream air I was breathing, the dream oxygen. After I had done this I could see and move with ease.

I clambered out of the window and noticed my parents sat in my dad's car outside, I didn't want to complicate matters by them seeing me involved in such odd behaviour, so I imagined I had an orb of invisibility in my pocket. I dropped onto our front lawn taking no damage.

I decided I wanted to do something about it being night-time, so I gestured my hands towards the sky and and tried to make the sun rise, lifting my hands. At first this only succeeded in making the moon much larger. I tried again and the sun rose but it was incredibly dim. I shook my head in frustration/laughter and simply said 'sunlight', and suddenly it was full day.

Sorry, that seems really long compared to the other posts, hope it's useful.

i am loving your dream control posts, broke a dry spell with a rather elaborate lucid in which i was using some passive, some active and very little stablization.

(to be fair, i put on a 14mg nicotine patch and took a melitonin pill before bedtime) I don't smoke but goddamn the vivid dreams.

      Here is the Dream.

Hey, I became lucid tonight and remembered to try passive dream control since I've never tried it before. Unfortunately I forgot about the tasks you put up which sucks cause I really like them. Well I guess next time. Anyways, so I was at a random house and walked up to one of the dream characters: "Hey can you help me out? I was wondering in which room Miranda Kerr is staying at?" He shrugged so I asked him again but he told me he didn't know. I asked another guy and he didn't know either but directed me to somebody he thought would know. Unfortunately that somebody also didn't know but then I randomly looked out the window and spotted her and some other Victoria Secrets model outside on the balcony of some other house. I tried to get there but the dream got unstable and I decided to reboot it and proceed with another task of mine.

My question now is, what did I do wrong? Bad acting? How can I improve the reactions I get? I mean, she did show up, but just not in a way I expected her to...

I think the way it works it to take any of the doubt out of the situation. Next time you're in that situation, try approaching a porter and saying 'Hey, I see you have a spare key to Miranda Kerr's room [hold out hand to accept the key], thanks. Room 12 on the first floor, right?'

Yeah, like Ctharlhie stated, don't give the DCs a chance to say they don't know where she is.

When you are acting, as look at yourself as the lead role, the star. These DCs are just the stand-ins and minor characters. Don't even give them a chance to halt your progress. You could also try something like this... Walk up to one of the DCs, lean in and whisper, "Hey Buck, I've got the documents. Just lead the way to Miranda's room." Act like those documents are really important to this DC (Buck) and he will lead you.

Fun lucid time this morning. put your flying lesson to great effect.

I walk back to the other room and ask the party, "when are the rest of the naked people supposed to get here?" They laugh incredulously and shrug. I wait for a second and then remember that I'm supposed to be flying in this dream. I walk back to the dining room and jump a couple of times. No dice. I wonder if I'll get a little bit better if I go outside. I walk to the back door and step outside.

Right outside my door is a 15 by 25 foot mural of a beach an sky. I look for a minute at the mural and realize that I've just stepped onto the porch at the house I grew up in. I look away from my mural to the right and I see a line of trees, then a giant beach and lake and in the distance a mountain range with white caps. I start running to the edge of my porch and leap off.

When I leap off I start flying 100 feet into the air. It feels good and I'm shooting close to straight up and a little forward. I close my fist and shoot a little bit faster. I remember that I'm supposed to try flying at a supersonic speed and I think about the "magnet" technique that King Yoshi wrote about in his flying tutorial, so I think I'll give it a try. I look in front of me and see a cloud very far away. I reach my left hand out to it and imagine the magnetic connection. I close my fist to solidify the connection and pull my left hand into my chest. I shoot toward the cloud at an amazing speed the wind is rushing in my ear and I wait for the explosion. Nothing. I shrug and look around at the world on the ground.

@tblanco - Awesome! It seems the magnet technique really worked well for you!

@Osmodin - Nice! Just keep practicing and it should get easier and easier for you.

Aslo more cool dream control stuff.

I can now control flying to smaller degrees like hovering without moving to objects and landing myself on something small like an inch thick horrizontal pole. Last night for the first time ever I made fire by imagining the object getting hot and an ember spreading. Now I need to focus on how quickly I can make fire. It would be great for exploring caves in my LDs.

I tried to jump out a window and got stuck half way through it. I couldn't budge

Other than that my dream control isn't bad. Though I've not really tried anything spectacular yet.

Teleported to a Chicago Ice Age last night!

Staring at the tips of my fingers and watching them glow, I think about going to the north pole. I can feel the cold in my lungs I can see the steam rising through my breath. I can imagine the crunch of snow beneath my feet. I put my two fingers in front of me and draw a doorway in the air. The air crackles with a yellow electricity and the line my fingers trace leave a dull shimmering outline in the emty space before me. For a moment nothing happens but then slowly I can hear the whistling wind of the freezing world. I take one step through the portal and suddenly my feet crunch through about a foot of pure white fresh snow.
Now I am Tesla Strong. The wind is cold and I am clutching my arms close to my body and walking up a steep hill to get a better look at my surroundings. Once I get to the top of the hill, what I see astounds me.
The familiar chicago skyline is ravaged by a new ice age. The hancock and sears towr are buried to thehalfway point in glacial snow. I'm very cold and want to leave. My fingers start to glow again and I draw annother portal in the air, this one shaped like a triangle. I step through again and I'm in suburbia.
also i somehow turned into a cartoon woman. that wasn't intentional.
