Syllabus concerns

OK, I think that the DVA needs a more developed syllabus system. Of course having the teachers assignments and what not is needed. What about; our expectations from the students, rules, chat guide, password. This partial syllabus can be tacked on to the end of the teachers syllabus or the beginning. These would need limited editing from semester to semester. The advantage to having a set bit of text would be consistency between classes.

Here is a draft of what it could look like.

I am also not sure about this but is giving out the pass to the DVA channel a banable offense? In this very rough draft I assume it is.

This section of the syllabus is quite important. Failure to read and understand this text can result in a removal from the DVA.

Expectations of professors:
Professors should always attend class barring emergencies. If a teacher is planning on missing class students should be notified in advance. A substitute teacher may be appointed to lead the class.

Professors should be kind and patient with all students. Teachers should not use profanity during class. Teachers should not mock students during class. Teachers cannot be considered on duty all the time. Any posts that break the official Dream Views rules should be reported.

Professors should grade all students and alert them via PM of their grade.

Professors should make themselves available for questions from students.

Professors should record and post chat logs from any IRC chats. This includes office hours, unless requested by the student(s). In that case they will be stored in a private thread for staff only.

Expectations of students:

Students should always try to attend class.

Students should do their assignments.

Students should not use profanity or mock other students during class.

Students should not post the #DVA password anytime other then when joining the chat.

Guide to joining the IRC chat:

1) log in on http://dreamviews.com/community/index.php
2) click on the CHAT button
3) log in again with your same username and password
4) you will connect to the channel #DV
5) in the text bar type or copy and past (without asterisks *) */join #DVA *
6) re read what you typed to make sure it is correct and then hit enter or return

The DVA password: If you are caught intentionally giving away the #DVA IRC password you may be banned.

Ok thanks Louie. But do you like the idea of having this section implimented in all syllabi? And what is the rule on giving out the pass.
