Thread: Which DS model?

standard DS. feels better, is always cheaper, and has better speakers than the others. unless you really need that camera, or don't have the pocket-space to carry it around, there's not many other good reasons.

I have a red standard DS already, which I got when they first came out. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier.

Get a DS Lite. It has a brighter screen than the original, its more compact, and it doesn't feel bulky to use (in my opinion at least). I had a DS Lite in Ice color, which was nice.
The GBA slot missing from the new ones is just ridiculous.

Wow, the ice blue colors looks amazing, I want one now. *_*
But where would I be able to find one?

And I totally agree about the gba slot, it's such a loss on their end.

Uh, surely any local electronics store or gaming store.

I've never seen them in stores... Looking online right now and they're selling on ebay for over $200.00.

A few searches say they are limited edition. You could buy one from New Zealand online probably, but there would be charger incompatibility.

Thats in NZD though. Converted, $249.99 would be about $181 USD excluding shipping. Then you'd have to get a charger. And I dunno if certain games wouldn't play because of regional settings...

That stinks. Well, I have the motivation to keep looking because I really want one now.

This New Zealand based company is doing a cheaper deal...

Nintendo DS Lite Ice Blue Console

I have a white DS Lite. Not as zippy, but very good. I've been using screen guards, and the touch screen still works fine. The only problem I've had is that over time, the touch screen becomes less and less accurate. It's about half a centimeter off, focusing toward the center. The good news is that the change is so gradual, I've been able to keep adapting with it, and can still play every single game just fine. ^_^

Apparently my classmate is working on a DS game with some other people that they're presenting at some kind of gaming convention. It's a sidescroller involing Abraham Lincoln - and yes, the final boss IS John Wilkes Booth.

I had my DS for two years, I played Pokemon Diamond on it loads, and Sims 3 Castaway. It remained in perfect condition throughout its time.

Oh, either 3 or 4 years. A long time, at any rate.

No disrespect to you, but I would have to assume either you didn't take proper care of it or were rough on the touch screen.

There's the all-too-likely possibility that I ended up pressing too hard on the touch screen, sure. For as long as it has lasted and the condition it is still in, I'm still very pleased with it.

Wait for the Nintendo 3DS.

I mean, 3D gaming without glasses. Does it get cooler than that??

This for sure. I was going to get the DSI XL for its really fat screen but why buy one now when the 3D is just around the corner.

I REALLY like my DSi. The camera function is very handy (but very limited). If I had the money, I'd get the DSi XL.
The only thing I used the slot for on the original was for a pedometer. I do miss that.

DS Lite is 10x better. DSi is overrated. It's so....ugly. There's no shine like the DS Lite. The only reason I'd even slightly consider getting a DSi is for the added WiFi features Pokemon Black and White are going to have.

The 3DS is an interesting concept and a very cool idea, but it's a novelty item at best, not to mention it'll be wicked costly.

To be honest, what's the point of a DS that you can't play your GBA or any of the Guitar Hero or Band Hero games on?

I really like my DSi XL. Lots of people don't like it because its so big and then they can't sneak it to school or something. I love the fact its so big though and I have no problem with taking it places. It fits perfecty in the side pocket of my shorts.

Seriously, just wait for the 3DS.

I've been wanting one too, but I am going to wait for the 3DS.

If what I heard is true, and the 3DS has the capability to play GBA AND GB games, then I'm going to give in and get one too.

That way I'll finally be able to trade Pokemon myself. XD

I definitely don't like the FEEL of the DSi. It's not smooth, but sort of grainy-ish, so I decorated it with stickers for my sense of touch.
