I'm sure most of you know about the show, The Jersey Shore. When I first heard about it, I thought it sounded like another dumb reality show that will of course drive the audience of younger (naive) people to look up to and learn to deal with drama by creating more drama. Wasn't surprised when I decided to give it a chance for 5 minutes and then I so happened to see an over-tanned girl crying over the phone about something I don't/shouldn't care about.
I figured I would just ignore it, not even go to MTV anymore. I mainly only watch TV late at night for King of the Hill, American Dad, and Family Guy (don't judge me!).
Despite me trying to ignore it, my girlfriend who watches Bones, said that they mentioned Jersey Shore pop culture and Italian people who like to party, without actually mentioning the name of the show. I once turned the channel to MTV just to see what was on and it was True Life: I'm a Jersey Shore Girl. Then recently, I heard that American Idol (don't actually watch this show) took place in Jersey Shore, and there was a scene with an Italian-American showing the viewers how to put your hair a certain way... And then I just saw a commercial for Royal Pains (I don't watch this show either), where the characters went to Jersey Shore???
Is there something I'm missing here? What is it about Jersey Shore that's so exciting? Do we viewers really care so much about reality television and their scripted lives?
I don't freaking get it, but whatever. I just want to know if I'm the only person in this world who feels this way.
