shit yea. cant wait to listen to it.
I like it :)
The second half of the album is different than anything they've done.
Double mediocre.
If two mediocres make a good!
I think people are too quick to judge an album based solely on first listen. I was blown away to see so many posted reviews by "official" sources online mere hours after the album was posted for download, and some are pretty negative.
I for one, believe this to be an album that will "grow" on me, so to speak, in that it must take multiple listens in order to full appreciate the content put forth by Radiohead. Anybody that knows a little depth to Radiohead would know that they put an extra effort, and they're not a thoughtless band.
First time I listened to this new album, nothing stood out. That's not to say it isn't good, but already on second listen more of it is sticking.
It's no OK Computer but I still think it's pretty good... I'd put it around fifth out of all of their albums. Frapo is right that you have to acclimatise to Radiohead's later stuff. Nothing struck me on the first listen but now I think there's some really nice stuff there.
There's quite a convincing case that this album may be the first part of a larger work to be released some time later, by the way. We'll see.
Edit: On third listen I gotta say this album is pretty uber.
Pretty good, I must say.
Then again, I'm a huge Radiohead fan. I even have an OK Computer/Fitter Happier poster in my room/
Me too. :3
Come on gentlemen, the album finishes on a major seventh when it's one note away from resolving to the tonic, since when does this ever happen?
In jazz music?
It's great, not as good as their last few albums but still really good. Feel a bit tired compared to in rainbows but still great music.
I didn't listen to the last song so I'm not sure if it's the same, but they end the song on the major seventh all the time in jazz music.
Well in any case it wasn't jazz, the last song was actually approaching pop, so it's very strange that they should have intentionally made the song sound unresolved...
Also it's a bit strange you made a judgement about the album without listening to all of the songs. :P
