I didn't like this song. Until I heard Derpy sing it.

I can see it a bit, now that you mentioned it. They are strange creatures, these ponies. Some are made of marshmellows, some sit like humans, and some even have magnets for hooves.Quote:

Man, sometimes I can deal with and even laugh at the doofy portrayal of bronies in some of the animations and gag videos that are out there. Sadly, this is not one of those times. Man, that video was gross. I couldn't even get through all of it. The only thing I can do is thank whoever there is to thank that no bronies I know look or act like this. The only guy I know who's even remotely like this. . . creepy display, won't be a brony because he's afraid it will insult his manhood. ಠ_ಠ
I appreciate that they bothered with the effort to even mention bronies. That's just great. And I appreciate that they have to make jokes about stuff that's currently trendy to stay afloat. That's what CollegeHumor does. . . but Christ, do they have to be such immature assholes about it? The only thing I can think of that bothers me more is FOX News, and their discussion about bronies.
I like to show my friends the show and get them to watch it with me. It's produced some great moments for me. It's given me something in common with tons of different people, and now I've began to associate and hang out with so many different people, of so many different types of house-holds and with such different personalities. One friend wants to watch Friendship is Magic and then talk about the subtleties and the great writing. Another girl just likes to watch it together and hang out; that's fine too.
But it doesn't help at all when my friends, impressionable teenagers as they are, just about to get out of high-school like myself, see in me the future Cheeto eating, masturbating fat-ass that is portrayed in this video. And they certainly take the opportunity to see it! After FOX News' little talk about bronies, I had a ton of flack. Even from people who watched the show with me, and liked it, asking me if I was comfortable being so old and yet liking a show like this. Asking me how it felt to be a man-child. I'd never been so frustrated in my life. One little video like this can really mess with the minds of the people around you, and how they view you.
I appreciate being able to laugh at yourself, I really do. I do it all the time. However, I don't think anyone is willing to laugh at themselves when someone else is calling them an "emotionally stunted grown man", or is even insinuating that we're anything like. . . this. I'm not denying that there's a select few cases of. . . whatever this is. . . out there. I'm not denying that at all.
What I am denying, however, is that THIS is what we're about. If this is what being a brony was about, I wouldn't be here. If this is what being a brony was about, I would be miles away from all of you and from this thread, and I wouldn't touch it with a stick that stretched the distance. And I know that! The problem is that not everyone else does. So when they see stupid stuff like this, they think this is what I'm about, and it's just not.
I'm not lashing at you, Linkzelda41, by the way. You just happen to be the person who turned this little gem up. Haha.
Anyway, all that ranting aside, has anyone seen this? I love this guy's videos.

I'm still working my way through the first season, and some episodes are definitely better than others. A lot of them make me feel like I just wasted my time, but then some really good ones come along.
#15 was alright but the ending crashed and burned in my opinion, what is up with the sudden anti-science message they twisted it into?
16 was awesome, but my fav. so far is the Swarm of the Century and the one where they first meet the Zebra.
Also I'm getting a bit tired of the fashion show episodes. Many of these need more Rainbow Dash.
Ahaha, yeah, that sort of bothered me as well. Real moral of the story; Pinkie Pie is exempt from reality.Quote:

Apperantly, Lauren Faust herself has commented on it.

Mmhm, it seems MLP sort of balancing between those kinds of episodes, where something really casual happens (Episode 8, sleepover), and then some of them where something really dramatic happens (Episode 16, fuckin' rainbows).Quote:

There's a few episodes where I think it may be leaning a bit too much on the casual side, like the sleepover and the Ticket Master episode. But then again, many of those episodes have stuff to make up for it imo, I mean, I personally really like Suited For Success, even though it goes all out fashion-episode-mode. The song and many of the scenes throughout the episode makes it awesome. Thinking about it, there's kind of a lot of stuff that came out of that episode.

Rarity confirmed for crazy cat lady
I guess for me the characters help make even such episodes cool. But I definitely prefer those awesome episodes like Sonic Rainboom :D
EDIT:
Yeah, agreed. It always hurts when you see something like that, it feels really insulting and like it was made just to mock. And then there's the fact that some people actually believe that stereotype to some extent. And that's just horrible. But I think the best thing we can do is to ignore the hate, and to politely inform people about the truth when the chance comes.
I think that has always been a big issue with our community. We have this big thing where we want to be kind to everyone and throw around love and tolerance for everyone, but what happens when we're confronted with intolerance towards us? Generally I think the community has handled it well when this happens.
It hurts to be the target of hate, but fuck, haters gonna hate. And if haters ain't hating, you're doing it wrong.
EDIT:
Spoiler for Rant!:
That unboxing video... Having a hard time telling if he's serious or not. Seems like he is, but I still can't tell.
Anyway, I love that Lauren Faust is so in touch with her fans, of all ages. At least we know that the guys who work on the show really do care about it, and don't just do it for a paycheck. Does she still keep in touch with people who ask her questions even though she's not on the show anymore?
I've seen her make a few comments on some things, but she tends to point out that she isn't involved in it anymore whenever she does so, so she really just throws out her own takes on things.
Nowadays she's moved on to her Galaxy Girls project. I think the voice actors seem to be a bit more into interacting with the fanbase now, I know Andrea Libman (Pinkie Pie & Fluttershy) does some stuff on facebook every once in a while. Plus she, Ashleigh Ball (Rainbow Dash & Applejack) and Nicole Oliver (Celestia) attended stuff on facebook every once in a while. Plus she, Ashleigh Ball (Rainbow Dash & Applejack) and Nicole Oliver (Celestia) attended BroNYcon 2012.
And then there's Tara Strong's twitter...
But it's been a long time since I've seen something pony related from Lauren, actually.
Also, this is awesome!

I did it again. Posting large amounts of stuff I don't feel all that comfortable with. Fuck it. I'll just sweep it under the rug - I mean spoiler tags :D
Haha, Tara Strong has the best twitter ever.

Wish me luck at my meeting with Kraft tomorrow! I'm hoping they'll do a "My Little Pony" box & call it "Macabrony"!
How is that going? I haven't heard anything about it in such a long time.
My daughter got Rainbow Dash in her Happy Meal.
I kinda want it. :shadewink:
Go get more happy meals ;)
Happy ALL the meals!
Happy ALL the meals?...
Ponies are showing up in my dreams way too much lately. I love ponies and all, but I wish I had something to write in my DJ that doesn't begin with "I was watching my little pony..."
I wish I dreamed about ponies all the time. I think I've had like maybe 6? When I first started watching FiM last summer, I watched like 10 episodes in a day, and then when I fell asleep I dreamed about ponies like 4 times in a row and woke up after each one. It was intense.
Check it out gaiz, I drew sum ponies :D
Sorry, some of the quality on them sucks. iTouch camera and all that:
Spoiler for Pictures... Pictures of PONIES!:
Large pictures, ahoy!
The 8-bit Celestia was done on six pieces of unused Pre-Calculus graph paper. The only reason it's necessary to make distinct what the graph paper was for is because I was supposed to be doing my homework but did that instead.
That's it, the next time no one is around I'm drawing ponies!
