Watch Hannibal.
Seriously, 2 weeks? I was waiting for this season to end so I could start bursting on the book reading, but meh. By the way, I love Daenerys. The actress that portrays her makes such a great job, especially when she was talking with the Yunkai lord. She makes this kind of amused/arrogant/interested face that looks so badass!
She really is a good actress, as I've been noticing more and more. If you watch Emilia Clarke in interviews, it's hard to believe she's the same person, and it isn't just the hair change. She acts so differently it's like her face morphs into someone else's. It's like she brings almost nothing from her real personality to her character's, and vice versa. It's kind of nit-picky but I've noticed that Emilia tends to move her eyebrows a lot when she talks, which personally annoys/distracts me a bit (OCD maybe), but when she's acting as Dany she doesn't do that at all.
I guess they didn't want to air the episode on memorial weekend, since some people wouldn't watch it. And episode 9 is one they really want people to watch, since episode 9 is likely to be the climax and the best episode, as it was in the last two seasons. And if you've read the books, you'll know something bad happens in either episode 9 or 10 which may be sort of bad timing for memorial day. So I guess it makes sense, and at least we'll be able to look forward to it longer.
WHAT???? 2 WEEKS !!!, SPOILER ALERT i can't believe samwell dropped the arrow after killing the white walker. i guess he had others though.
Yes, it has everything to do with the ratings. Last years memorial day episode totally tanked in the ratings so they put it off because it's going to be a good episode :P
Put spoiler replies inside spoilers marks please. I haven't read it, but I noticed it isn't inside spoilers.

Spoiler for Arya Stark:
Still got like 250 pages left on A Dance With Dragons. Any else read the series?
Shit, me too. I'm at about the same place you are. Well on page 788 (just checked). I think I started this thread, and I read the previous 4 books before the HBO series even came out. For some reason it took me a long time to get around to reading this one. I was kind of disappointed in this book. The last few chapters have finally gotten more exciting though. GRRM is great at describing things but sometimes to a fault... ugh.. the Yunkai camp. So disgusting.
At some point, there are so many characters POV's going on at the same time I couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed. But indeed the last chapters of DWMD were pretty exciting :D Just wish I hadn't read the series so fast :embarrassed:
I'm at Barristan's first POV, so maybe more than 250 pages. It doesn't translate perfectly because my broke ass is reading a PDF.

My favorite part of ADWD so far were the conversations between Jon Snow and Stannis. First character to give Snow space to reveal how strong a leader he is. His personality is like everything they describe Rhaegar as. I also like the part with the fighting pits in Meereen. I was on the verge of thinking Dany was watching her kingdom all fall back to the old ways and I don't know, I was starting to get this really dreadful feeling. It helps with the way GRRM describes the heat and everything else. But then the shadow hits and sent me shivers of relief.
Well...
Spoiler for Don't read this if you want to remain in the dark regarding Jon's mother:
I'm a little past that, just finished Victorion chapter and am beginning a Jaime one. And I'm reading it on my phone. The reason I never read it earlier is because the hard copy is huge, and I only have time to read on the bus, and I finally got a smartphone then bought it for $10.
I'm really hoping that Jon's mother really is just some whore or girl who tended to Ned when he was lonely or something. That's more realistic. It seems a really typical kids-fantasy story move to have a bastard's long-lost mother be some amazing person with royal blood or something. I'd like to think GRRM wouldn't sink to that. Though I have a feeling he is.
Well, I agree and disagree with you on that. The logical side agrees, the fangirl doesn't.
I remember in one of the books (been so long since I've read them) that

All in all I really suck at fan theories so I'll just have my little hopes but won't expect too much.
