      Dark, gritty animations

      Anyone know of any good animated series geared towards an older audience? Not something that was meant for kids but can be enjoyed by adults as well, I'm looking for something that was intended to be watched by old geezers like Philosopher8659 and Taosaur. Something like Spawn (at 1:20):



      I don't really care if it's a Western animated series or if it's anime but I'd prefer if it wasn't too over the top.

      The Maxx. Hopefully you can find it. It is literally a cartoon all about psychology with some acid and superheroes mixed in. The Maxx is a hobo superhero who has uncontrollable hallucinations teleporting him from the real world to his fantasy world only his fantasy world starts leaking into real life. Its my favorite cartoon ever besides Adventure Time.

      I remember that from way back. I don't think I've ever seen entire episodes though, just snippets while channel surfing. I'll give it a shot.
