Thread: Recommend me a decent TV show

Parks and Recreation, and Flight of the Conchords are both very good.

The Shield is a great show. Has Michael Chiklis in it ( played as the Thing in Fantastic Four). I've watched every episode, highly recommend it.

Unless I missed it you havent seen the greatest piece of television ever created: The Wire.

The only problem with The Wire is that once watched all other tv becomes pale and simple in comparison to the sheer glory that is all 5 seasons of The Wire taken as a beautiful dickensian whole

curb your enthusiasm is pretty good, you'd probably like it based on the shows you listed

24 when i wasn't in school or work I'd watch this show in real time....it was amazing how the exact time of day matched up with it all)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer One of the few shows I actually watched weekly
Venture Bros. Seasons one and two are amazing....then it kinda fell off with three and four, but still worth it.
30 Rock With it's crazy random flash backs, and 0 laugh track, I'd say it was a cross between the office and family guy.
How I met your mother It's a swell show.

If you have never watched The Wire, then you should definitely add that to your list. You will not be disappointed.

I have been through the series 5 times now (chronologically is a necessity or else you'll find it quite silly), and still catch new hidden jokes... there is so much layering of comedy that it was necessary for me to purchase the DVDs so I can watch it again every year.

Also, Curb Your Enthusiasm and 30 Rock for comedies
Dead Like Me (Only 2 seasons, but very good.)
The Guild (It's a web series, but if you have ever played any MMO games, you'd enjoy it very much!)

Also, the only show that 1) normal people, and 2) critics can even compare The Wire to is Breaking Bad. They are two shows that are in a league of their own; they transcend "television drama" and become masterpieces.

I checked out the first episode of the wire and didn't think much of it, honestly. But after three days, I'm still thinking about it. I think that's a good sign.

I guess the reason I felt initially disappointed is because I recently watched all of Falling Skies and Walking Dead. Walking Dead was meh but whatev zombies are cool but the real home run was Falling Skies. That show is intense! It's where the quote from my sig comes from. The dialogue is kinda unnatural (no worse than Dexter or Breaking Bad) and a couple of characters are meh (Again, no worse than Dexter or BB in that respect) but the story is intriguing as fuck. I find it somewhat predictable but in a good way. If I can't predict the story that usually means they did a shitty job writing it.

Just watched the season finale of Dexter. Was good.

What else ehhhm, I'm kind of a show addict so this is what I have for you:
Carnivale: only two seasons but really fanfreakingtastic. Has a mysterious, hallucinant feel to it, so considering on which forums we are, I guess you'll like it.
Twin peaks: starts off with a highschool chick getting murdered. All of the rest revolves around solving that murder. *thumbs up*
Rome: If you're not interested in ancient history yet, you will be after watching this. Kind of too much sex in it, but that seems to be a trend in historical shows (probably because they're afraid otherwise no one would watch..)
The Tudors: The above comment also counts for this one.
The Borgias: Another historical one -- sorry if you're not into that! starts off slow but after 2 episodes you'll find yourself watching one episode after another.
Bones: really amusingcharacters!

Watch Firefly. Amazing sci-fi space show.
