The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan

Simply put, this is an incredible album.

A massive step forward in the right direction for an already great band.

While not as rockin' as their previous releases, GBSM boldly goes where few other popular artists have dared to set foot. It's a complete musical experience that ignores convention and defiantly shouts, "Fuck mainstream!". But, as the critics agree, the mainstream will definitely come to them.

What I love the most is this:

A Rush of Blood To The Head (Coldplay) and Elephant (The White Stripes) were both massive albums that catapulted each band to international fame.

Now their follow up albums have been released on the same day (June 7).

Coldplay, in a true act of cowardice, put out a repititious, extremely "safe" effort while the Stripes have progressed into a completely new sound and put out an extraordinarily daring album.

Coldplay gets trashed for it, and the Stripes get praised. There is hope for Rock 'n Roll yet.

i am so glad that someone out there also realises that Coldplay haven't changed a bit...i was really looking forward to this new album, hoping they'd changed their sound slightly from the others, but from what i've heard of the first release off the album, they sound exactly the same!!
And yet i'm hearing people saying they are better than ever!
Uh? where are your ears people?
Re the White Stripes, can't say i've listened to much of their stuff...I'm less mainstream even than that!

I definitely agree that The White Stripes new album is a big step forward, Jack's marimba playing on several tracks gives the tracks a unique sound, but it tones it down a lot, and I think in the long run takes away from the song. Other than that, I'm very glad to see some change and some progression, but I'm afraid that Blue Orchid, much like Seven Nation Army before it, will eclipse all of the other achievements on the album...

      the white stripes r0x0rzzz!
i agree with u guys. personnaly i think blue orchid is the best song on the album and IMO i think more of the songs could sound more like it. But thats also a good thing about the album. No song sounds like the other, they experiment in many different directions and they are influented from many different genres , but in the same time thay succeed to keep the same feeling throughout the whole album.
      awesome album
