I only ever read one thing by Lovecraft, and that was a short story about 2 or 3 pages long. I read it while browsing books in the library, standing in the aisle. To this day that story sticks in my mind, and I'm thinking of reading some more of his works. I don't ordinarily like creepy stories, but Lovecraft seems pretty good.

hp lovecraft is for nerds who think infinity and time in its primal and potential forms as well as fear and doubt and mortality and foreign languages and exotic places and history and nonwhites and sex are all giant incorporeal monsters who have nothing better to do than frighten neurotics in old buildings,

and also it is not okay to name your pets after racial epithets,

      get your shit together.

Well goodness sakes, no-name, when you put it that way I become more skeptical of Mr. Lovecraft. Is he really that bad?

On a more productive post, The Necronomicon is a good start (though pretty pricey). I personally prefer his shorter works; "The Statement of Randolph Carter" being a personal favourite. Of course with the movies and games we have today, i wouldn't say his stories have the same effect that they had back in the early 1900s. Still worth a read though.

Ive literally read them all and they can fuel your dreams and nightmares i guess

You can pretty much start wherever you like but i recommend you start with the classics like Call of Cthulhu,The Case of Charles Dexter Ward,At the Mountains of Madness,The Nameless City...
Definitely worth reading if you like some really scary stories about creepy, unearthly things from out of time and space!

Well I read two of his works, "The Color Out of Space," and "The Call of Cthulhu" and I found them very well-written and fascinating. I think he's great. His use of language, syntax and his colorful descriptions amaze me, I wish I could write like that.

Don't forget the shadow over innsmouth. Lovecraft's writings have influenced people such as Stephen King. This story was made into a 2001 movie called: Dagon

You might be interested to know that the band, Fields of the Nephilim, draws much of their song content from writers such as Lovecraft.
