Yes, I was watching this. As always, watch or read online or even read on forums with a grain of salt. We also have to think critically. ;)

Thank you Daniel Love. :)

I think I may post the link in the lucid discussion section. There are more links in that video but, I probably need to run it through with the staff here. ;)

.This is very true. In fact MoonageDaydream's link is to a person calling herself Teal Swan. She is a good example. Some of her videos are good and share interesting stuff, but she is also a weird narcissistic megalomaniac who has a crazy history of far from spiritual behavior. I would not say that means she can not share good quality spiritual stuff but it should definitely be taken with a grain of salt.
Hm, interesting. I don't agree, and I actually really love her videos. I've learned a lot not only from her videos, but also from reading her books. Although I don't know her personally. From what I do know, I think she has been slandered unfairly. And she's had some serious stuff happen to her. But we don't have agree on this - I respect that your opinion is different than mine.

I think someone beat you to it. They posted another article about the same study. You might want to put the link in there?

Very interesting. You know, I think one of the problems here is how people are interpreting hallucinations. Like the example with the woman seeing goat legs. She thinks possession, I think overlayed dream symbol. I would think, okay, what could this be representing? Maybe she has a toxic relationship with her husband, and that's her unconscious mind's way of showing that to her - much like a dream. Our Western culture has not helped us with this at all - we're not prepared when stuff like this happens. I wonder? Does this kind of insanity happen less often in Eastern cultures where they practice Buddhism or other Eastern religions?
^That would be a good question to ask one that channels. I think it depends on what is the underlining problem is. However, that is only my opinion, and please don't take that as fact. If the hallucinations are getting away from your day-to-day life and cause interruptions to lives around you then you probably want to seek help regardless of the culture and religion. Any toxic relationship is not good.
With dreams, I think most of us here have experience the abstracted representation that came from our day to day walking lives. I hope this makes since?
Sorry, I don't really have the same belief system as you.
Shared psychotic disorder (Folie a deux) is an unusual mental disorder characterized by sharing a delusion among two or more people who are in a close relationship. The (inducer, primary) who has a psychotic disorder with delusions influences another individual or more (induced, secondary) with a specific belief. It commonly presents among two individuals, but in rare cases can include larger groups.

Hopefully, we didn't veer off-topic here.. This a place were people can what they are watching without to much heavy discussions.
Actually, I agree that seeking help is good if something like that is causing a problem in your life. And of course, toxic relationships are not good, I agree. My only different thought is that hallucinations and dream imagery are related, and that the problem arises from our interpretation of these things, rather than the hallucinations themselves. The problem here is in our understanding of this type of phenomena. That, and while Western medicine/psychology can medicate us to make the problem go away, it doesn't always get to the root of the problem, or address what's really going on. That's where I think turning to Eastern thought can be helpful.
Of course, I am a spiritual, new age, mystic type of person. So I am going to think that hallucinations are a form of a gift, when understood and interpreted correctly. <-- Key point there.
It's okay if you have a different belief system. I respect that you're different, that's totally okay. :)
I don't know. Why have a thread if we can't comment on the videos? I know that it would be hard for me to watch someone's video post, and not have an opinion that I would want to share. I also think interacting on here is so important, moreso than always being on topic.
Would it help if we had a second thread where we could discuss the videos posted here? I would be ok with that. I just want to be able to discuss with anyone interested in discussing these things. :)
My colleague once told me details from an internship in psychiatric pharmacy. He asked the expert about if the hallucinations a schizophrenic has are ever pleasant. The answer was no. They are not like the imagery and experiences people have with a drug like mushrooms. They seem real which does not honestly happen in most drug use. These people not only fully hear a voice for instance but to them it is real. Also, it almost always had a very negative effect on the person. Voice may say horrible stuff, calling them worthless and so on. Visual hallucinations are also usually negative like seeing bugs or blood. This woman was likely in a state much like a non lucid dream. Strange dream things happen and you do not question if the are real. She sees goat legs not a minds eye overlay. She would also be influencing the imagery in the same way a dreamer is creating the content of the dream. Her religious belief in a devil would include images of the goat legged pitch fork carrying iconography. That would create images related to that when her thought turned to evil possession like stuff.
Btw, thank you for your insight on these videos, guys. I'm just not used to people asking questions about the videos I post. I was going to post on criminal physiology too. :)
Again, I was just watching the videos to something that I was interested in. I just wanted to know different terms of things.
Perhaps, we need to make another thread for Beliefs Vs physiology in another section? There you guys can talk about it all you want or what is really bothering you?
I honestly think that maybe a little of both belief systems can probably be beneficial to our life journey.
Hey, no problem. I've been enjoying the videos you've posted, or anyways, the few that I've watched. I happen to love reading books on psychology. I find it fascinating. :) I apologize if my post bothered you earlier.
I'm not sure about a beliefs vs. psychology thread, although, that could be interesting in its own right. I would just like a place where we can post thoughts on the videos here. Mainly because I know I've posted here before and this happened before. So maybe a "Video Discussion Thread" or something similar?
Edit: Humble, would you rather I just not comment on your videos? I can do that, if that's maybe what you want? I'm not offended.
^^^ You are welcome to make that video Discussion thread if you want! :D

Yes! You guys should boldly make any threads you want (that follow the rules). Both ideas are good. A thread for intellectual discussions on material from other threads to avoid "off topic", the idea would be a place to continue any thought process that risks taking the parent thread off topic. Maybe called something like 'continued discussion'. Your OP could states nothing counts as 'off topic' in this thread so place links to here in threads you wish to expand upon, or some such wording.
Belief systems versus analytical psychology or something like that could also be an interesting topic.
With that, back to linking videos,

This old thread sure has received some heavy stuff lately! I'll post something a bit lighter, although possibly provocative depending on philosophical point of view. It's a channel by a seemingly nice chap devoted to lucid dreaming, astral projection, and out-of-body explorations. I think he made a lot of very interesting videos, until he suddenly dropped off the radar.
This one is his channel introduction:
https://youtu.be/mVZ4xztr95w
EDIT: How do you make the video visible in the post?
Heavy stuff? Yep!! :D
I appreciate your post, Voldmer! Thank you for posting.
Did you hit the inset video? Go to your video, copy, and paste the URL address of the video, (not the channel link) then If you click on the movie clip and past it there. Press okay!
PHP Code:
[video =youtube;QmTgAN42JaA ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmTgAN42JaA[ / video]
The result should look like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so1BV9LAsm4
All videos can be subjective.
I think I did exactly, what you suggested, HumbleDreamer, but the code for formatting the link looked different from your example. I will use the wrapper from that example next time. Thank you for showing it.
Incidentally, it's quite ironic that the link works correctly in your quotation (unless that quotation was somehow edited by you to show the link properly). No ... wait ... that seems to be a different video.
You're using the shortened YouTube URL for sharing (i.e., youtu.be). In order to use the VIDEO tags, your URL has to be in the standard, non-shortened URL (i.e. www.youtube.com/watch?v=...)
Try this, without the spaces in the [ VIDEO ] and [ /VIDEO ] tags.
HTML Code:[ VIDEO ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmTgAN42JaA[ /VIDEO ]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmTgAN42JaA
Edited: I seen that there "=emb_logo" attached to the link URL... That seemed to be causing the issue.. I think? When you link something, I guess we have to be mindful of what is attached to the end of it..
Hope that helps?
Attempt no. 2:

Yay! It worked! :) Full length link does seem to be the key.
