      Aw, no replies.

It's hard to say generally without considering genre. Even the best happy song will sound like shit while I'm depressed, and vice versa.

I'd have to say that it's SONOIO - Houdini.

I'm not sure what genre it is, sort of like trance/techno I guess, not the type of thing I ever saw myself listening to a few months ago. The first time I heard it, I didn't think much of it, but then it grew on me. I'm not sure what I see in it, it just seems to fit so well with a specific state of mind which I like but don't often experience. I've added meaning to every lyric and sound that's personal to me, which I suppose everyone does with songs they like. It's the only song I've ever failed to get sick of no matter how many times I listen to it. It's kind of strange because I don't like techno at all, and rarely like trance, and it seems this should sound horrible to me, but there's something about the way this guy does it...

It's hard to say what my favourite band is. For a long time it was Insomnium (melodic death metal) and that may still be it. My favourite Insomnium song would be "In the Halls of Awaiting", but many others were close (Daughter of the Moon, Change of Heart, In the Groves of Death).

But different types of music are so different it seems unfair to compare them, and I'm not as depressed as I used to be so I don't actually listen to Insomnium much anymore. But I'd still say it's poetic and soulful and makes everything look beautiful while depressed.

judging from how often I put it on, one of my recent and long-standing favorites is Close to the Edge by Yes

Another recent favorite is the album Cryptic Writings by Megadeth

I'd have to say Rush has been my favorite band for the past 2 years or so... and this is probably my favorite song by them.

For both band and song. I need a song to have meaningful, emotional lyrics for it to really hit a chord with me. (unintentional pun xD)

So many. If i really had to point out one band, it would have to be Radiohead. For everything they do with their music. It's truly amazing. Tool is another great one, but Radiohead still tops them all. They're the most consistently innovative and unique band I know of.

Guys if you never heard of the band herbrightskys before check them out. They are really good. But really I don't have a favorite band. I listen to guitarists mostly. One of my favorite guitarist is jimi Hendrix. Others. Steve vai, Eric Johnson, and joe satriani. There are more but can't think of it right now.

Always this band, and this song on some days.

I can't pick a favorite band but I might be able to think of one of my all time favorite songs. It's really hard to nail down just one. But right now it's either Jack White's Love Interruption, Modest Mouse's Lounge (Closing Time) or Wolfmother's Tales

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Good man. Nice to see some fellow Yes fans here. It's difficult for me to pick a favourite song/piece of music as it changes all the time. It has gone from Yes's Roundabout to Yours is No Disgrace to Starship Trooper to Heart of the Sunrise to Ritual (Nous Sommes du Soleil) to Perpetual Change to Sound Chaser to The Prophet...And loads of stuff by other bands.

Currently though, my favourite is a just a simple piano piece by the Joona Toivanen Trio in Finland. It's called Dream of a Family. As I cannot find it online anywhere (except samples), here it is in case anyone wants to listen to it.

I'm a huge Yes fan. They are one of the most talented bands in history. Here is a clip of them with what I consider their peak line up, performing "Roundabout" in 1973. It is one of my favorite videos on YouTube.

Yeah Yessongs is really great! I suggest getting the whole album, although I assume the video can only be found on youtube or in some DVD version (I have the audio only)...The solo on Perpetual Change and the performance of Yours is No Disgrace is glorious! Well, they all are as I think it's a selection of their best live performances.
