Vanilla sky was interesting enough, but I personally didn't feel like it had all that much to do with lucidity. It seemed like they just threw that term in the movie just b/c it sounded like the coolest buzz word they could find at the time.

If you really want to see a movie that helps introduce someone to the concept and lifestyle of lucidity, then I highly recommend seeing "Waking Life".

I've heard some opinons say that the long conversations add bore to the movie, but I don't think anyone with similar opinions of the movie really paid attention. If you get lost in the details of the movie, then I can see how it's hard to miss the underlying idea that the movie is trying to get across.

I apologize if this didn't contribute constructively to your thread.

Vanilla Sky is my #3 favorite movie of all time. I've watched it 4 times now I think. It seems to pull you into the characters worlds, and you begin to feel like you are in the movie. It's a real mind-trip as well. Although it is a little hard to follow at first, if you stick with it, it all begins to take shape and make sense. It's also very easy to begin to feel for the characters in the movie and what they are going through.

I highly recommend this movie. Very highly.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

Captured the essence of a dream brilliantly. Well, minus some minor details. The major issues dreamers deal with were pinpointed very well. The effects of fear, the feeling of pure love, the brilliance of awareness, and the strengths and weaknesses of the mind were portrayed well.
.......Then I think of my youth and of my first love-when the longing of desire was strong. Now I long only for my first longing. What is youth? A dream. What is love? The substance of a dream.

Well, it made me think that Hollywood will never hire Paul McCartney again to write a theme for a movie. That song sucked. What, did it take him five whole minutes, or has he just lost all the talent he ever had. It makes me want to cry for the death of John Lennon all over again. His Theme wouldn't have sucked. they should have consulted with Mic Jagger -- he's not a candyass has-been, like McCartney. The Rollingstones might have really put out some freaky semi-pyschodelic song that the Movie REALLY called for... and not some crappy acoustic guitar folk song that must have taken 2 minutes to write... I guess Paul must have been busy with his new cookycutter blond wife.

Awesome movie. One of those ones that you have to watch more than once to truly enjoy. Cameron Crowe is a brilliant director.

PS. I love that McCartney song.

At the end of vanilla sky does he return to the dream world or does he choose to wake in the real world?. & does sophia die? or is she still living?. Tom cruise is such a cutie~pie in this film aswell. ♥

Vanilla Sky is one of my favorite movies of all times. I always cry during the ending. The music is amazing as well. And sorry, but I liked it better than Abre Los Ojos. XD I just personally find it more emotionally moving. But both films are great.

He chooses to return to the real world. The man asks him what he wants to do after explaining the situation, and Tom Cruise says, "I want to live a real life." He then says bye to Cruz and wakes up after falling.

Sophia dies, since Tom Cruise has spent uhm, 200 yrs. or so in the dream world. (I'm guessing from memory..) Here it is on yt.

Of course she would be dead as it's many years after. It all makes sense now.♥

I was watching it when I was ill one day, as I don't often watch movies otherwise. But I started to get freaked out when people started shifting back and forth, so I turned it off and fell asleep. When I woke up I had the horrible feeling that I knew where I was going to move next, and thus everything was predetermined. I also couldn't see properly. I went outside and walked and eventually the feeling went away.

      Good movie though.

Definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. Thanks for clearing up the ending, Xox.
