      Fuck the music industry!

Now that I have your attention. Apparently Pandora is limiting its users to 40 hours a month because of rising costs in royalties. For some weird reason, they're getting the hell gouged out of them vs. satellite radio. Anyways....link about the 40 hours is here.

Right now it's easy to say "I don't use Pandora that much a month", but what happens when they have to cut the hours down again? Looking at the current royalty increases, it almost seems inevitable. I can only hope something changes in the near future, because it's actually been a pleasure to listen to the music I want to hear that not forced to be played X amount of times an hour. Also, I feel like batman when my cellphone is hooked up to my car.

Awe that's a shame! I can see them eventually charging. I don't listen to Pandora that much but it's nice when I do. This is why the torrent sites are so popular. And flippin hate the damn radio. They always ruin my favorite songs.

Also, I feel like batman when my cellphone is hooked up to my car.

I buy most of my music, so that I can store it liberally. I like the idea of Spotify, but despise its limits.

And obviously radio sucks. Its function as a music platform is obsolete.

Agreed, YouTube is the music platform for me personally.

I don't actually know of any good music streaming sites which autonomously play what I want whilst also intelligently throwing in new stuff for me to try. I wouldn't mind listening to the occasional ad to fund it (just like radio). Is there such a service?

You can always make it open playlist whenever you turn on your PC and play it through.

I am actually planning on buying Pandora one. It seems worth it to me. I listen to music close to 20 hours a week from them. It is 3$ a month.

Man....I may have too soon. LOL they sent me an email a few days ago saying "we think you might go over that limit". I'm pretty sure I will, since I skate 2-3 hours 3 times out of the week. That alone takes me around 36...then I listen to it on the weekends (to drown out my friends kids.) FML.

      Ice roller or skate board?

Yeah. Hey, no ads should be nice. I don't think they raise the skip limit though, which isn't a big deal. If you skip 6 songs in an hour on a station you probably aren't in the mood for that music anyways.

Yeah me too; I wasn't looking for a site to browse though, I was looking for some kind of radio-like service that wouldn't require any input. For driving or chilling or whatever. Seems like there's a gap in the market.

The moment I can't get music for free, I go back to pirating. Thanks to youtube, pandora, spotify, soundcloud, etc, I haven't had to pirate music in a long time.

I simply can't afford to go to a show once a month if I have to buy music and I like going to shows.

One of the best ways I've found to locate music and get it into a form where I can listen to it as I like is YouTube > Realplayer Downloader> Realplayer Converter > iTunes. Found loads of stuff that way that I couldn't find anywhere else. And it's all free (when you download the free Realplayer you get converter and downloader with it).

Its not like they are hurting for money. They sell more now then ever... even before piracy.

12 Extremely Disappointing Facts About Popular Music
      I like this comment:

"The problem here is that pop music is actually constructed to the so called "tastes" of the so called majority. It isn't written by artists. It is constructed by record companies. There is nothing real about it. There is no heart or soul in it. The record execs say "yeah, that's really cute that you put your heart and soul into this music, but will it sell records? How many? Hmmm, that's not enough. Here, why don't you change this and this to make it sound like everything else. That's a good lad, off you go...". Then they over expose the hell out of it. Tell the people it's great. And people actually believe it because they don't have time to think for themselves. In this world of instant gratification no one wants to take the time to actually search out something that is meaningful to them or speaks to them in some way. They just let the media do it for them. They figure 'Hey, if they say it's good, it must be good. If it gets the most air time on the radio, it must be the best stuff out there". Meanwhile, the actual hardworking musicians out there get the shaft for doing things their own way. They get swept under the rug only to be found by someone who actually wants to take the time to find something real and good to listen to. Ever wonder why you hear the same pop song three times in one hour on the radio? The stations are paid to play specific songs more often than others to feed this never ending train of garbage. I've always said that pop music is for people who don't like music."
