Ooooh, that's a hard one. I love a lot of video game music. I'm stuck between Crash Bandicoot, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mario soundtracks (and I'm speaking for the entire franchise and not one game; I can't choose!).
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 had great soundtracks mango haha
Easy question for me.
This song made me want to cry when I was little, I kid you not. It is from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for the SNES. I used to be obsessed with this game.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed had a pretty good soundtrack.

But I'd probably have to go with something like Machinarium. That game has an amazing and relaxing soundtrack. Tomas Dvorak / Floex is a great musician.
Oooh, tough one! I loved Fallout and Bioshock. But my absolutely fave would probably be Chrono Cross
Here's one of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ595N9NZVg
Ohhh chrono trigger soundtrack <3
hehe, Chrono Cross... a sequel that didn't stick around for very long. I pre-ordered it and got a bonus CD with several songs on it. Since posting, I've been scouring YouTube to try and find them. I can't *rage* I can't find my CD and my iTunes crashed and needs re-installed so it seems I don't have them (I'd just search the titles if I remembered what they were :crying:)
It was, hands down, the best compilation from a video game I've ever heard.
TBH, despite loving music, I've never been crazy for listening to game soundtracks outside of the game. However, I enjoy Amon Tobin's Chaos Theory album, which was the soundtrack to Splinter Cell (which I haven't actually played).
I have played The Dark Spire (DS), however, and the soundtrack is perfectly fitting. It actually came with the CD, and the songs are pretty fun to listen to. But again, they're far better when in the context of the game.
Same goes for Shadow of the Colossus. That game's music was PERFECTLY fitting for the game play. Basically, the whole game was a very artistic and emotional game, which is a feat in and of itself. Hmm, I'm getting nostalgic; may be time to dust off the PS2 and dig up my copy of SotC.

With SotC, the music epically changed as you would progress in the battles. Like in the video I posted around the 3:40ish mark.
Man, i'm glad i'm not the only one that loved that Ending theme and it was a great game. :)
For Me. Guilty Gear Soundtracks, JetSet Radio, Classic Sonic 1- Sonic&Knuckles, Spiderman: Shatter-Dimensions, Darksouls
Nights into Dreams. Nightmare Ned.
And a special shout-out to NeiR, Wonderful Soundtrack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmc3yji0G84 I used to go to sleep to this song.

Here's one of my favourite Machinarium songs. They are all very ambient, given that it's a puzzle game, but I absolutely love them.

This one has a little more rythm and substance to it.
Final Fantasy 6 and 9 just own, some of the best soundtracks ever made for any medium.
In fact, I consider Nobuo Uematsu to have as good feel for music and melodies as Mozart.
I also have a soft spot for Star Ocean - The Second Story, the music is so beautiful and soothing in that game.
For me, most likely Hellsinker, or Akashicverse(Games that most likely nobody here heard about).
*Moved to Entertainment*
I don't really listen to game soundtracks outside of the game itself - it just doesn't have the same feel and impact as when you're actually playing the game.
Some game OSTs I enjoy nonetheless are Super Mario 3D World (The jazziness is really fitting and nice), Okami, Alan Wake, Shadow of the Colossus, Rayman, Guacamelee!, all the Metroid games, de Blob, Silent Hill, Sly Cooper, Lost Planet, and the Batman Arkham series.
Though, I have to say, this has to be one of my favorite compositions in a game ever. In context with the game, it really fits well and invokes the dreamy, atmospheric feel:

I guess my favorite would have to be Bastion's.

Despite that I don't have the game, I like f-zero GP legend music a lot. Though i'll put down the series.
