Psychedellic Dub, ambient, IDM and free, very good music

Anyone listen to Shpongle, Younger Brother, Celtic Cross, Hallucinogen (In Dub remix is incredible....), Mystery of the Yeti? All of these groups involve Simon Posford (Halluciogen being his famous solo project), who for those who don't know is one of the key figures of the whole goa trance movement back in the 90s (wikipedia it if you don't know about it, it's pretty interesting, if you don't mind reading about a bunch of hippies that is )

Anyway, the way I can describe this music is very hypnotic, very deep, very enthralling, very strong, makes you knod your head...full of good vibes and psychedellic undertones. Deep, powerfull dub basslines, very bizzare timbres, hypnotic melodies, world music instruments run through a multitude of effects, filled with all sorts of great samples of people talking about dreams, lucid dreams, psychoactive states of mind, the imagination, and overall very interesting, far out stuff.

If you have a chance listen to this music. I believe it is potentially a new musical style in the making, if treated the right way.

And, here is a link to some other very good music. It's a net label that distributes music online from many different artists who are willing to give their music to the public for free.

A lot of downtempo beauties to be found there. Some very emotional pieces, I suggest downloading the CD, Dreamers of Dreams...the third song of part 1 is particularly good.

      peace all 8)

The cover of the first shpongle album, bcuz just reading about music isn't that interesting

      yea dude,
I have a CD by Scientist, it's not kingdom of dub tho, it's Dub in the Roots Tradition. Very good stuff indeed, but it's such old school Jamaican dub that all the tracks utilize the exact same sounds.

I love psychedelic, bizarre, spacy type music. I'll give my five biggest recommendations on albums in that general area...

      Hawkwind-- In Search of Space

      Steve Roach-- The Magnificent Void

      Kevin Braheny-- Galaxies

Dominic Woosey-- Mysteries of Science: The Erotic Nature of Automated Universes

      Jon Iverson-- Alternesia

All of those are very incredible. Hawkwind was a rock group, but they were also space musicians who played with strong jazz and folk elements. The last four are just straight up space music, and it's the best I know of in existence.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
