Do you know of any other good Steely Dan albums? From what I've heard of them like 90% of it is dry and kind of easy listening, but some of it is fucking badass. It all depends on how the drummer and the singer sound.
Listening to a recording of my proffesors playing from earlier tonight, a tune by Jay Weik called I like it.
New York Dolls - Trash

Well, IMO their best album that I've heard of theirs is Can't Buy A Thrill. Any major dude will tell you (I kill me) that it's one of their most well known (Reelin' In The Years is on there) and beat albums (and it also featured David Palmer's singing, most notably on Dirty Work (a song I knew of for some time before realizing it, only because Fagen's voice is absent). Gaucho is also good, opening with Babylon Sisters and Hey Ninteen (they're mostly good songs on there). Most of their stuff is kinda chill and jazzy, if you're into that kinda stuff then there won't be an album without at least one song you like. (To all) if you like their music also check out The Doobie Brothers.
As for the singing, I'd definately list Donald Fagen as one of my all time
favorite singers.
Currently I'm listening to Do It Again (for the above quoted, 1st track on Can't Buy A Thrill).
