Evanescence will be releasing their new album, 'The Open Door', on October 3rd.

Here is a link to a video that features their new single (this video is not the official video, just a fan-made video featuring a still picture so that the song can be heard)

Here is a clip for another new song called 'Lacrymosa' that features a sample of Mozart's own 'Lacrymosa'.

      Reasons you should like Evanescence

      2. Ben Moody left in 2003, and he was the more pop-minded one. Amy is more alternative and creative, and therefore, this will be so much better than their first major CD, 'Fallen', even though that was still amazing.

Ever heard them live? Amy Lee can't sing.

The only reason it sounds good on the album is because of recording software like ProTools.

I really only like one of their songs.

Live? Doesn't matter, just have them lip-sync lol.

I must admit I was disappointed by the live DVD 'Anywhere But Home'. Either she didn't spend enough time warming up her voice, or it had just been worn out (that live performance was shot towards the end of thei tour). In acoustic performances, she sings flawlessly.

I was always amazed that Rocky Gray played the drums for them. He was the guitarist for a metal band Living Sacrifice and played drums for another band called Soul Embraced, both being pretty abrasive bands. I've always found Evanescence to be the American counterpart to the European female fronted progressive bands, only not quite as good. (Not that I think many of the European ones are THAT good.)

I don't want to change the topic, but just add a similar note to it. Listen to To-Mera. (http://www.myspace.com/tomeraband)
They are absolutely amazing. First and foremost, they are not a showcase for the beautiful female vocals, even though she is probably the best I've heard in a rock band. She practices daily and it shows. She ALMOST verges on opera at times, but not quite. The craftsmanship of the guitarists and keyboardist is amazing. The keyboardist has roots in jazz and classical and those influences are very apparent. The bassist's roots come from thrash while the guitarist's comes from jazz rock. The drummer is caught up in technical polyrhythms and such. The result is smooth, jazzy, and technical progressive band that's semi-thrash, semi-rock, and incredible. Listen to blood, which is the most basic song from the album, and love it, keeping in mind that the songs only get more complex. Then listen to the three samples and love them. Then buy their album in, um, October I think.

(Very sorry. I'm just really excited about this band's future.)
