There is a new movie on the way called 300. Im not sure if any of you have heard of it, it doesnt seem to have too much hype around it at this point. It is due for March 9th 2007.

Its an interesting take on the battle of Sparta. The 300 Spartans against the <strike>thousands of</strike> million Persians. Its also got a nice action/Matrix-Style twist to it. So, for those that are fans of Ancient Sparta and the Spartan warriors, it might be a good watch.

Ohhh yeah.

Back then, you actually used skill to fight. THAT is how you fight. Up close and personal, in your opponent's face, getting physical, and using all your might, skill, reflexes and smarts.

Now its just point and shoot, and computer wars where you can blow up a country from the otherside of the world.

I mean, this movie is obviously very exagurated and has some fantasy elements, but how cool did that look?

Way to completely sell short the skill required in modern warfare. As though it requires no skill or intelligence to navigate the increased lethality of the modern battlefield.

You're going to make the soldiers sad after they trained so hard.

Anyway, the movie looks pretty cool.

If anyone didn't already know, the movie is based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller (Sin City) and looks like it will be on par with it. I can't wait!

Hellz yes. The teaser trailer is the best one ever, though. It's somewhere on quicktime www.apple.com/quicktime or something, in trailers. That song is beautiful. And whenever i see it I get the chills.

I'm definately going to watch it. It looks like there will be plenty of action in it, and Sparta is my favorite ancient civilization.

Ah...I've been following this movie ever since the trailer was released. I'm a huge movie mogul-type (like...I see everything...and criticize...everything), and so I know to expect as low as possible to not be disappointed, but I just can't help getting overly excited about this one. Supposedly, it's not supposed to be "very realistic," but then it's based off of a comic book, and what comic books ARE realistic?

By the way, I'm so geeky, I had already read the comic book this is based off of before the trailers and hype around this movie...V_V

Looks cool, though I'm not a big fan of the whole 'Spartan' theme, Frank Miller is amazingly good.

This moving is going to so own. I am definately going to see it. I think it's going to be among the top movies for 2007 but I think Transformers is going to definately surpass this. But this is an awesome looking movie for sure. Thanks Exobyte for sharing.

I can not wait for this movie to come out.

I am an ardent student of classics history and almost squeled at the idea of this depiction. Once I heard there was even a graphic novel released about the battle of Thermopylae I looked into it. I highly suggest buying to book - it is really well done and also a pretty quick read:

Furthermore, if you are really into the history of Leonidas - I suggest looking into "The Histories" by Herodotus. This is 'the' history book of history books.

I really think their a market for killer sheep. Plus it makes the action sequence in nearly all horror movies look as scary as watching teletubies. Also it got a better plot and twist then most films.

The movie looks like it doesn't follow conventions of Hollywood, as in the look of it. Yeah, it's like Sin City but colored. Looks dope.

So? Your point? Its based on a Graphic Novel, of course its not historic. Does it matter? It doesn't have to be historic to be enjoyed. What the hell is it? Do you have a disorder that causes you to disagree with and put down everything? Im inclined to just agree with you one day and see if you explode and throw the universe offbalance.

Opinions are one thing, but jesus, we know its not historic. Neither was The Matrix, or Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings, and they're still enjoyable movies to many people.

Wether you like it or not is one thing, but seriously dude, what the hell? Its not historic, so what?

Put simply, Whoopdee-fucking-doo.
