i know there is a harry potter topic already out... but dude. look at the movies. they are not getting to be kid friendly. well the books arent really either, but whatever. do you think they would ever make a harry potter movie R? dude that would be sooo funny. think of all the little children sneaking into their first R rated film harry potter 7 or whatever the heck. are they getting to adult?

No, they aren't, thoughts like that are what get America to have its panties in a bunch all the time about small stuff. Oh noez, Harry has some pre-pubscent feelings about a girl... oh, there are some somewhat sexual situations, and there are other fantasy suspense stuff like dragons... let's slap an R rating on there to make the whiney ass mothers happy. They are not getting to adult, you just have an incredibly sensitivity to anything the least bit "scary" or whatever...

Rated PG for some scary moments and mild language.
Rated PG for scary moments, some creature violence and mild language.
Rated PG for frightening moments, creature violence and mild language.
Rated PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.

Those are the ratings of the harry potter movies in order. But I think you're right, we should boost up to a PG-13 rating for "SCARY MOMENTS AND CREATURE VIOLENCE" And make it an R because it has sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images. I wouldn't want MY kid to see sequences of fantasy violence, THAT'S for sure!

Yeah they are getting a bit darker...but I see nothing wrong with that. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more adult HP fans than anyone else. And also, Harry is growing up in these books, it only makes sense that the stories should grow up a bit too.

My thoughts exactly. The books get more adult as they go, as they naturally should since Harry is getting older. I don't think the HP series would have done as well as it did if they didn't have adult, complex plots. A large portion of HP fans are adults, after all.

That surprises me. I read the first book when I was 10, I thought it was boring. Then again, I had just discovered Tom Clancy at the time...

I doubt that they would reduce the size of their market by putting an 'R' restriction on the movies.

The books haven't had sex in them. And I seriously doubt they will. PG-13 maybe but that's as far as it'll go, especially not to exclude a large audience like that.

Sex in Harry Potter books!? lol...we haven't even SEEN Harry's first kiss yet. I really hope they don't do some hokey over dramatized hollywood kiss thing. I mean, come on. She was crying. It was awkward. Just watch though...they'll make it look like a perfect kiss.

Yeah, I bet they will too.

But even in the book, you don't even get to read about the kiss. It just goes from Harry thinking she's much too close and can see every tear clinging to her eyelashes, to him walking into the Gryffindor common room where he's interrogated by Ron and Hermione.

Speaking of sex though, have any of you seen the naked pics of Daniel Radcliffe from that play he's in, Equus? Seriously creepy-weird to see him like that, btw, (though the pics I saw were cut so you couldn't see everything) but he's got like facial hair and other hair too...
I feel icky.

I know he's trying to break out of the Harry Potter mold, but I think this was a bad decision on his part.
