The worst thing that can happen to a good cause is, not to be skillfully attacked, but to be ineptly defended. - Frédéric Bastiat
I try to deny myself any illusions or delusions, and I think that this perhaps entitles me to try and deny the same to others, at least as long as they refuse to keep their fantasies to themselves. - Christopher Hitchens

Pre 2000 games can still kick major balls. |

Well, you only need two games from that era, Fallout 1 & 2. |
|

XWing vs. TIE Fighter or perhaps the original TIE Fighter. |

X-Wing vs. Tie fighter is pretty good, I suppose. |

I've tried Hardwar. I didn't like it very much, it's one of those games with a pretty much dead community and an also rather dead single player. |

I was ten years old in 1982, when video games really took off, and I played the 70's video games that preceded the electronic screens, so I've been there for the whole history. I think the coolest video game of all time is Rastan. I haven't heard a word about it in ages, but it was bad ass. My next favorite was Ghosts and Goblins. I also loved the original Super Mario Brothers. U.N. Squadron was a big obsession I had for a while. And I have always been a huge fan of Ms. Pacman. The Atari 2600 games were simple and primitive, but they were great. Check out Defender, Frogger, and Space Invaders. |

How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
Worms takes the cake. |

Red Alert 2 definitely. You'll need IPX if you want to play it over LAN though and it's a hassle to install it for XP and Vista's gotten rid of it all together. You can use a program called Kali to simulate an IPX network. |

Wing Commander 1 through 54395265389247328952653812094 thousand |

Mech Warrior 2. All the way. |
|
I never played the second MechWarrior, but the third one is my favorite by far. Number four messed a bunch of stuff up. The controls weren't smooth, the overheating didn't work as well, it was harder to use, and generally not pleasant to play. |
