This is a blast from my past... I'm probably going to be playing this junk all through spring break.. just don't tell anyone.. Who else remembers and loves this game?

Pokemon is a most excellent RPG. A very respectable franchise, and no, it's not just for little kids.
All my old versions are lost (presumable stolen) or the batteries have died :(
I have my Red sitting on my desk from playing it last week. ^_^ I still like this series; reserved the new one yesterday.
Note, I'm saying I like the games. The cartoon that ruined the franchise, well, that can [insert vague and offensive things here].

Remember to surf up and down along the right side of Cinnabar Island so you can find a level 100 Misingno.
I remember I cried one year when Christmas came around and I didn't get Pokemon red version for a gift..
I was a bratty kid.
I remember waking up at 5:00 or whatever ungodly hour that Pokemon cartoon came on when it first came out.
I actually only started watching it to try to have a seizure. Kids, go figure. :roll:
And it came on after a Robocop cartoon that was even earlier, honesly, who would have thought to make a kids cartoon out of robocop? Next they'll be putting George Carlin as the role of of Thomas The Train's conductor, oh wait, that actually happened, what was I thinking. :P
Anyway, I loved that game, I remember playing it nonstop on my old 80's gameboy. I recently got a Gameboy Pocket and started replaying Red and Gold. I had to replace the batteries so I can save the games again though.
I have some friends that placed a Gameboy in my hands with Pokemon Red... It's not bad. But I played it too much that first day. But what else are you supposed to do on the weekends? Homework?
Let's just say that some people really just know the whole "dictionary" of Pokemon information... it's kind of creepy how much they know. "No, don't use a *** creature on a fire creature?" "Use your bug-type, it'll work better on this.... -der." One can't wait until April 21st.
I enjoyed the games when I was younger... I began with red/blue and then briefly with gold. I suppose there are like 5000 discovered pokemon now or something? I've been tempted to try their recent release out.. not sure if I am to old now though. I still play some RPG's though. The NDS is my favourite console, just completed CONTACT - which is great.
Yeah i loved that game as a kid, i dont have the patience for that now.
I lost two blue versions and a red version, so I downloaded the roms a while back and I'm still playing them :P
And I've got yellow version in my desk drawer with my gameboy. I pull it out when I feel nerdy and bored.
They're still my favorite RPG's.

I still have my Pokemon Blue, but unfortunately, I lost my Pokemon Red (the first one I ever played) on a trip. Those games were amazing. The combination of Donkey Kong Land, Super Mario Land and Pokemon Red for the Gameboy are what made me a gamer.
I still do have Pokemon Blue.

lol never had a portable console but I remember playing pokemon on friend's gameboy colors... I never liked the gameboy advance. I really loved it though. Not sure how I'd like it now... it's getting a bit ridiculous thinking up new colours for them. Last one I played was silver edition. I never see pokemon on TV or see the cards anymore though. Man I had a huge card collection.
I can easily name all the Pokemon up to Ruby and Saphire, and the first 150 in the right order. Once I get my hands on Diamond and Pearl, I'll memorize all the new names as well.
When you play it for a while, the names start to stick. That, or I'm really nerdy. :P
Same here. I love to recite the original PokeRap, but the one for the Johto region is stupid. I just got my hands on the original Pokemon Pinball, which adds to my collection that includes Yellow (my first), Blue, Red, Pinball Ruby and Sapphire (can't spell it. never could), Sapphire, Silver, Crystal, LeafGreen, and (soon to have) Diamond and Pearl. Gosh, that's a mouthfull. I also have all six of the gold-plateted Pokemon cards that Burger King was selling back in '96 or '97. (My dad used to be the manager of our BK, so I always got the good toys). But wait, there's more!!! (yes, I'm a fanatic.)
My friend gave me probably 200 cards or more for my B-day last year, but I'm still lookin' for that illusive Dragonite card. (my favorite PKMN) I'm pretty sure I have all the PKMN cards that they gave away when they showed the first 3 movies in theaters. I was lucky to get the Suicune, Latias, and Latios cards at all, because I found them in the rental DVD cases at this local rental store. (If you were to buy PKMN: 4Ever in stores, you could either get Latias or Latios, but the employees at the rental store said I could have BOTH!!) Jirachi I got from buying the DVD.
Speaking of DVD's, I own 3. PKMN: Jirachi Wish Maker, Pokemon: The Great Race, And Pikachu's Winter Vacation. (that was also a lucky find) I also have 3 PKMN VHS's. PKMN: The 1st Movie, Pokemon The Movie 2000, And PKMN: Electric Showdown.
Oh yeah, in addition to that, I also own 2 PKMN pillowcases and 1 bed sheet, and the original Pokedex & Pokedex Advanced.
And, I think this is the last thing, a Pikachu pinata from my 8th or 9th birthday. (no one could bust that thing open, so the mom of one of my friends poked a big hole in the bottom so the candy could fall out. Then, we kept it after the party.)
No, there's more. There's also the 2 PKMN tins I own and the bookbag I use to have. But I kept the pokeball keychain from it. Did I mention the Vulpix, Seel, and 2 Dratini plushies from years ago when KFC got into the craze?
There, that's about it. Whew, I think that's the longest post I've ever done.... (Oh, and I LOOOOOVE the anime. 10th season!! WOOT!!!)

I still have a ton of the cards leftover. I brought them over to a friend's house once and explained how the game worked, and we played for a bit. Some of the stuff you listed sounds cool, though. I missed out on all those promotions since I lived in Australia (the craze still occurred there, but we didn't have many promotions) at the time.
My obsession, hands down! I just collect the cards. I don't play the game. I leave that for Duel Monsters.

Oh, I left 2 things out. I have The Official Pokemon Handbook (that was before I got the Pokedex), and The Official Pokemon Guide. This little baby has all 386 PKMN. (made before the Sinnoh region) It also contains stats, moves, type advantages and disadvantages, egg groups, where you can catch the PKMN in different games, very helpful tips and the basic breakdown of the game. (love it)

Yellow was my favorite. but you couldn't select a "difficulty setting" by picking the easiest Pokemon. I feels so glad I am not that obsessed with pokemon.
ah, pokemon. When it came about I was obsessed. Mainly with the cards & games, but I had all sorts of other crap too & loved the cartoon & movies.
I sold my entire card collection (a few thousand or so) on ebay a few years back. can't remember what i got for it, i know it was a fair amount, as i had some pretty rare cards.
I still think the games are awesome (the gameboy ones, oh & pokemon stadium on n64, that rocked!)
I used to own red, silver & sapphire. they were all really good RPG's. They didn't have much substance to them (like the final fantasy series, for example) but that's not what they were about, so it didn't matter. They were just so much goddamn fun. :D
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned Ruby/Sapphire. Having owned Red, Yellow, Gold and Ruby I gotta say I found Ruby the most fun. Of course the Pokemon in the first series were the best. Way more original than any subsequent ones. I dunno, maybe it was because I played Ruby when I actually understood how the game worked, had the patience to play it properly and didn't just rely on one pokemon to do all the fighting because I didn't train up the rest of my team. One final nerdy thing, Diamond and Pearl look set to be the next best thing on DS, bar none.
I thought Gold and Silver were the best. Mainly because of the night and day feature. I loved it. Certain Pokemon appeared at certain times... Genius! I think that little immersive details like that are what got me into Animal Crossing. Plus, you could go back and visit the entire Kanto region! I think I had my first feeling of nostalgia when I went back to Kanto in those games. :)
But I was disappointed when Ruby and Sapphire didn't include those features. You only had one region, they didn't bother to let you explore the others. And, of course, no day/night.
Diamond/Pearl are bringing back day and night, but I really want to see future games remake the old areas. That feature adds another 20-so hours or so to the game's life, and all they have to do is update the sprites. :roll:
I have both Diamond and Pearl preordered... Not because I'm a Pokefreak and I want both for myself, but because I'm gonna give one to my bro and keep the other for myself. Online stuff should be a lot of fun.
I just saved up over 100$, so I'm bying both. Besides, my dad wouldn't let me preorder...

After hearing the reviews and reading up on it and all the new mon, I think it's going to be the best generation yet. Wi-Fi with voice chat, near 500 creatures now, and all the improvements to the battle system...
The only thing I'm worried about is their latest event only pokemon, Arseus. This one is the God pokemon that created the universe. If the fundamentalists get angry over Murkrow wearing a witch hat, I can't wait to see what they'll do when they hear about this :D
I reserved an English Diamond version last week, and I'll get Pearl for my birthday in June. I already have a Japanese Diamond Version though, so I bought a new DS for trading. I've been spending a lot of money >_>

I hated yellow because I didn't like that rat of a thing they made you start with. Bulbasaur was where it was at. I played Red and blue all the way through countless times, tried out both silver and gold and just didn't like it. I wish they left it with just the original ones, but oh well. I only started collecting the cards because they were good bargaining chips for other things my friends had.

I used to have pokemon Blue! Ah, the good old game boy color days. I used to think I was so cool with my ugly pink game boy and my pokemon blue. I played that game soo many times. Collected most-all?- of the pokemon too... I remember looking at my playing time in the save menu and seeing 65 hours + Haha I freaked at that!
