      Wayne Krantz
Started listening to him because the name sounded familiar(I think I was actually thinking Wayne Kramer). This guuy has a very unique style. Funky and twangy with a buit of a modular sound similar to Pete Cosey.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

Oh look, this thread seems similar to one I felt like making. I think I'll post in here instead! Wheeeeeee!

So the bands I'm into these days are thus, in no particular order:

Portugal. The Man - Probably my all-time favorite group. I could listen to their discography for days on end without getting bored. That's probably 'cause none of their albums are the same, as they've reinvented themselves and their sound every year since they've formed. I'm very much looking forward to their 2011 offerings.

Tool - As someone who discovered metal through Disturbed, being introduced to Tool was quite the experience. I especially love how their songs are structured and executed.

Breaking Benjamin - My GF introduced me to their work outside the Halo 2 soundtrack and I became a fan pretty quickly. "So Cold" is a great example of how much fun their music can be.

Guster - Such relaxing, energizing music. The bongos are a nice touch.

Alpha Rev - They played a show with Third Eye Blind at my university and I was more impressed with them than the headlining act. I think the comparisons to Coldplay and The Arcade Fire are warranted, which is a surprisingly good thing.

Dream Theater - Just picked up a bunch of their stuff, and I'm very much enjoying it. They've got a good mix of sounds in their albums, both hard and soft, all of which I find myself enjoying.

Arctic Monkeys - Specifically the "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" album. Every song from that CD is excellent, IMO.

Some interpretive dancers (elderly too) got me in to Portishead (Third), bless them.

Music for me happens like that; I don't go out of my way to actively seek it-- it finds me. At any rate I'm not too fussed.

Bone Thugs N Harmony - Their music was just so different. I was never much of a rap fan growing up but when my cousin showed me a couple of songs off their E99 Eternal and Art Of War albums, I instantly became a fan. The way they sang and rapped (which was more of a blend of rapping and singing) a hundred words a minute was so unique and the instrumentals they used were so unique and full of funk that you couldn't help but kind of bob your head and tap your foot to it... even if they were singing about "chopping up a ****** and tossing him in a river." The combination of groove and grit made you kinda wanna dance (or at least move) while they described an excessively brutal murder. And then of course when they stepped away from the murder music and started creating songs about politics, social issues, relationships with people around you, mental disorder, etc, I began to love their work even more. They dont sound like they used to anymore though. =/

Tech N9NE - He's strange, goes where others refuse to, and incredibly entertaining. He's intelligent (a genuine rarity among rappers), and it's reflected in his work. Like Bone, his rapping is more of a sing-songy flow rather than the boring "Im going to talk really slow and miss the beat while my horribly generic instrumental plays in the background" sound most other artists have.

The Like - A kick ass girl band. 'Nuff said.

The Beatles - Been listening to their music a lot lately, loving it.

I listen to various other artists but this is pretty much what my playlist is mostly comprised of.

Red Sparrowes- Their music is amazing especially to listen to when watching some kind of natural phenomenon. I remember watching a harvest moon rise while listening to red sparrows and smoking sour diesel. One of the pinnacle experiences of my life. The song titles are really great as well.

I usually listen to a band or composer for a certain period, then move on to something else, but i can list some bands/musicians i have liked at somepoint.

Toto - First band i really liked. And contrary to most people i have spoken to, i like their newer albums best.

Kaizers Orchestra - Had a KO-phase a couple of years ago, where i listened to them almost non-stop. Their tune "Prosessen" was the soundtrack of my 2009.

Mezzo Forte - Iclandic funk band... Whats not to love...

And now i listen mostly to orchestral music from the late classical period (Beethoven) to the national-romantic period (Grieg, Dvorak, Sibelius etc...) plus some other stuff, like Holst's "The Planets" and Johan de Meij's symphony no.1 "The Lord of the Rings" from 1988.

My favourite bands have to be.... The Classic Crime, Number One Gun, The Pretty Reckless, You Me At Six, Dream Theater, Nickelback, Copeland and Deas Vail and I guess you could throw a bit of Led Zeppelin, Saosin and Run Kid Run in there too.

Gosh, I love music... Listening to "The Flight of Kings" by The Classic Crime right now in fact!

      Avenged. Sevenfold. That is all.

But seriously, if you haven't heard them you're missing out on a hell lot of quality music. They were originally metalcore but turned hard rock/heavy metal, but are eclectic, versatile and creative and can play pretty much whatever the fuck they want and be awesome at it.

      Other favorites:
      System of a Down (classic)
      Otep (best female metal vocalist)
      Killswitch Engage (great clean singing)
Bullet for My Valentine (great screaming)
Lostprophets (not as heavy but quite enjoyable)
My Chemical Romance (all around lovable and great lyrics),
(old) Linkin Park (first rock album I ever heard was Meteora. Still remains one of my favs
(old) Eminem (first rap album I ever heard was The Eminem Show. Classic stuff)
30 Seconds to Mars (good altern)
      Muse (original and great vocals)
Tonedeff (underground rapper, one of the fastest and greatest lyricists)

Well, quite a lot of bands I listen to frequently... depending on the mood obviously ^^ But some of them would include:

      -Creedence Clearwater Revival
      -Aerosmith
      -The Doors
      -The Eagles
      -Red Hot Chili Peppers
-Guns N' Roses (their old stuff with the original members, no thanks to the new era )
      -Led Zeppelin
      -Pink Floyd
      -Queen
      -R.E.M

And then lately I've also really taken a shine to Dire Straits which made me purchase all their studio albums in one go Should arrive any day now! Besides that there's also stuff like Slash's Snakepit, Jazz/rock guitarists like Johnny A... and so forth... but you hopefully get the idea ^^ And still trying to expand the collection

Wow, alot of good music floating around here. But I feel pretty out of place here- none of these artists I listed have a genre in common.
