So, what do you think of that book? Personally, I hate it. Paolini has no creativity. He just took Star Wars and changed the names.

Well, he was about sixteen when he wrote it, wasn't he? Although I haven't read the book, I suppose it must be better than the movie...
i have never read teh book, but i saw the movie, and that was pretty good. i liked the part where the dragon breathed fire into the other dragons mouth. i was all 'woah!" and it inspired me to draw this really wicked cool drawing. also, that kid with the black hair was hot. :) i forget his name tho.
Yeah I read it.
Hugely overrated.
It wouldn't have been as big if he wasn't 16 when he wrote it.
It ripped several books and put them together.
I never read the book either. But I saw the movie. The main reason I liked it, is because I'm a huge fan of dragons. And I really liked the dragon in that movie. I look forward to seeing more of them. There are definitely many better dragon stories out there. But that battle at the end was pretty fun to watch.
The book was pretty good. The movie didn't do it justice at all.
and wtf.... of course theres similarities.. rarely is there a completly new story. Most stories follow the same archetypes and therefore turn out similar.
Eragon is a little like eBaum's World. Sure, it was heavily 'inspired' by many different classic fantasy elements, but who cares?! I don't read fantasy books expecting to see something entirely, completely new. I read them for escapist entertainment. You can't deny that Eragon is a very entertaining book. It's a well-strung mix of everything you could want in a fantasy book. It won't change your life, but it will make you forget about it for a while.
