What's the basic storyline? I've seen the trailers and it looks as though it's transformers vs. people. Is that right? And if so where did they come from? Are they alien or what? I haven't seen it because it seems like one of those overrated movies that gets loads of media attention for a couple of weeks then everyone forgets about it.
I enjoyed it, thought it was one of the best films I've seen all year.
Spoiler for Spoilers for film:
Huh, a lot of mixed opinions here then? I guess I'll have to see it for myself, although if it really is more about the special effects than it is about the storyline as AdamA said, then it doesn't sound like something I'd really enjoy. But it's not as though I've got anything better to do. :p
The storyline is crap. They basically spent their entire budget making sure that the special effects are amazing. There's nothing wrong with that though, I was pretty much distracted by the visuals the entire time to be bothered worrying about the really bad plot (but at least it's better than Spiderman 3).
Transformers is AWESOME!!!!! Megan fox *drool* ooooooo ahhhhhhh!!!
Oh yeah, how could I forget!
SHE IS A HOTTIE!! *drools*
The visual effects are amazing! I thought it was going to be some transformers cartoon... but they blew me away with how real it all looked. Plus, they struck a great balance between the storyline, romance and comedy - which is really hard even for the best movies. Best movie I saw this year by far.
The only thing is, the girl was pretty much completely useless and unneeded for the story... but I won't complain if they want to stick Fox in a movie :)
Don't know how you can't like the film.
I love the way they transform.
As said, the action and effects were great, I never said they weren't. I was dissapointed for a multi-million dollar film to shortcut on the story line and script.
It didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the film, just had me a little dissapointed thats all...
best fucking movie ive seen in a long time
The most fun to watch sci fi action movie yet!
I thought it was good, but why did jazz have to die : |
I thought it was just lovely.
Pokilty and Squall:
I disagree with you both - not so much with Meghan Fox's character, but not only did she help give Sam the "from Zero to Hero" factor, by being the big-time jock's ex, but she also gave Bumble-Bee his single "Hey, I'm a bad muhfucker, too!" moment, when her tow-trucking skills allowed him to drive down the road, after his legs were blown off, and take out Devastator, who had been completely owning the humans.
As far as Sam, he's the one that put the glasses on ebay, which is the only way the Decepticons found it. He was tracked, bought and guarded by Bumble-Bee, so they could find the location of the glasses. He was tracked by the Decepticons for the same reason. He was tracked by Sector Seven for having contact with the aliens which, subsequently led the Decepticons to the location of the allspark. (The three factions chasing him was the only thing that tied them all together and let the story progress) He told Sector Seven the Purpose of the allspark. He got Bumble Bee released, so he could minimize the allspark and get it out of there. He killed Megatron.
I'd say that counts for something.
Also: Did anyone else notice how much of a BADASS Starscream was? I mean, that cat was ruthless. If you only saw it once, you probably wouldn't really appreciate it as much, but he was just wrecking shit all over the place. He took out damn near the entire fleet of Raptors (one of the best scenes in the movie, if you ask me), single-handedly owned two of the Autobots at once, in a 2 on 1 firefight, blew off Bumble-Bee's legs and launched a pretty wicked assault at the dam where the allspark was held. I really hope they go the route of the cartoon and bring him back as the leader of the Decepticons in the sequel. I think I liked him more than I liked Megatron. :cooler:
Starscream also survived, he was one of the decepticons that didn't as well as the vending machine, ladies' car and the xbox.
Plus yeah I saw that scene where he took out all the jets, very nice :cooler:
Oh and that girl was needed, in a way she was the person that influenced Sam to be a hero, he wanted to protect her and got courage from her.
I need to watch it again, as I am still not that much up to date with the characters.
Yeah, that scene with star scream was one of the coolest parts of the whole movie. I can hardly wait for the DVD. I want to see what it looks like HD
Hell yeah. I love the way he transforms multiple times in the same shot, to improve his position. I have a bootlegged copy (which isn't exactly HD, but pretty damn good) and watch that part over and over. Haha.
I'd have to side with the "best movie ever" group. I lucking foved it! I went in expecting them to be all taking their time in transforming, all slow and deliberate. I didn't expect for them to transform "on the fly" like they do, I thought that alone was fanflippingtabulous. Switching in mid-air and hit the ground running. Sooo well done. And as Oneironaut said, the way scream switches up mid-battle like that to simultaneously get outta the way AND switch weapons systems. Brilliant.
I REALLY liked this movie. A lot.

"Why does he always come back looking like a shitty camaro?"
"Oh now look, you've hurt his feelings."
The on the fly transforming was really cool. I agree.
Though I think the best on the move transforming was done by Barricade back into vehicle mode that marked the start of the chase scene.
