Nintendo DS + R4 card etc.

So an R4 card is on its way from a reputable Hong Kong importer and a DS is soon to be bought. An R4 card allows me to download DS ROMs to a MiroSD and play them on my DS (which is legal because of course I own all these games anyway (I inherited them from my rich great-aunt, who happens to have legally owned several thousand SNES, GBA, PSX, NES games and arcade machines too )) as well as run homebrew programs.

Anyone gone down this route also? How fun is the DS?

DS is quite fun. A few games are *gasp* worth paying for. Let Elite Beat Agents be your first ort of call (even iff the soundtrack is... interesting. It's hugely better than the Jpop nonsense in the Japanese versions)

Also, get a Lite. The old DSes are simply awful.

Yes I am getting a Lite. You'd have thought they'd have learnt after the dreadful first model GBA screen, wouldn't you?

Anyhow, Elite BEat AGents I'll have a go at. Castlevania, some other RPGs and New Super Mario Bros. are among those I've downloaded so far, and some puzzlers. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows on the GBA was among the greatest games ever made.

It has a MicroSD slot, so however many you like, just depends on how big the MicroSD is and how many MicroSDs you've got.

I bought a bundle with a 2GB MircoSD card. Typical DS game is about 32MB so 2048 / 32 = 64 games. Some are bigger, of course; Castlevania tends to be large and Elite Beat Agents is the biggest I've seen (over 100 I think). So 64 normal sized ones or 32 biggish ones.

      Enough.

Sonic Rush is worth it, good sountrack and decent level design. Sonic Rush Adveture has beter level design, but terrible music and a horrible game structure. You spend more time out of levels or replaying them, then you do having fun with new bits.

Another for my list. I've d/led loads already, so I hope this ruddy works!

The list so far is: Castlevania (both), Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros, That Harvest Moon RPG Thing, Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007, Picross, Tetris, Electroplankton, Elite Beat Agents, Pokemon Diamond, WarioWare Touched! and 42 All-Time Classics (Shogi and Touchscreen Chess FTW) So, heh, a lot.

      Edit: Oh and Advance Wars

If you haven't started Pokemon Diamond yet, it might be a good idea to switch it out to Pearl, as most people have Diamond, so you'd have more luck trading with people online or off, etc. The only difference between the two is about 8 pokemon and the legendary.

I would get Advanced Wars: Duel Strike as well; if you're into turn-based strategy.

      Good list so far

Castlevania. Is. Amazing. I have it for DS and it's one of the best, if not the best game I have.

I'd agree about Sonic Rush. That's enjoyable enough. You've downloaded everything I would've downloaded had I that card (including Yu Gi Oh!).

/me needs to go get one of those cards.

      what about Pokemon!
Hi I'm Luffers, quite possibly the smartest person you'll ever meet*

*this may be slightly dependant on the number of people you have met already and how many you meet in the future.

I got it all yesterday. Works like a charm.

Castlevania is as good as expected though I need to get a hang of the controls (the X, Y A and B buttons are close together and my right thumb is, er, not good) but alls well elsewhere.

Spent most of my time playing Hearts on Clubhouse Games/42 All Time Classics though or faffing around in WarioWare Touched.

Very good system and cost effective too!

I recently got one for Christmas, no complaints what so ever, all 32 of my backed-up games work perfectly

Neither do I. It's a must for the amoral DS fan, as well as the amoral gamer in general. The cost in the end was £143 (£100 DS Lite + £39 R4 card + £4 case and accessories). Great little system, plenty of fun games on it (and Pokemon, which is is a total bore).
