Thread: Metal Gear Solid 4!!!

The Official Playstation Magazine gave it 10/10 along with GTA IV, so it is possible.

If IGN are the respectable reviewers they ought to be they should rate a game on its own merits rather than the current market. That doesn't make complete sense, but I'm just saying that they ought not be biased because of GTA.

I might buy a PS3 just for Solid 4. I wonder if there will be nudity.

I can't say I've found a fault with my 60gb version. One of the best things I ever decided to buy. I don't think I've ever regretted it, even though it was a lot of money.

I never was that keen on them either, but what with all the console-exclusive games that are coming out recently, most of them with online play, I may be tempted...

My parents didn't buy it for me, I had to get a job at my Dad's company over Summer along with spending my savings on it. Makes me appreciate it more though.

Saying MGS4 is going to be better than GTAIV is the dumbest thing I've ever heard someone say.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a stealth adventure action game.

Grand Theft Auto 4 is a sandbox shooter action game.

Two very different games. They will both be good in their own right. I've never bought a console to play one specific game, and I haven't been that big of a follower of Metal Gear Solid. Regardless, when I eventually pick up a Ps3, I'll have to pick this one up as well.

And what the fuck is up with these mandatory installations? 60gb harddrives are getting eaten up because you have to install extra amounts of space to diminish extra loading times. It's fucking ridiculous.

They can be good at their respective genres. For example Call of Duty 4 is a better game than [insert movie tie-in game] because it's better at what it does. Granted you can't compare them directly, but you can compare them to other games and take that as a comparison. I think they had a perfectly reasonable argument and you shouldn't have jumped in saying that "is the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say."

It's really not that bad. I haven't noticed my hard-drive lacking space ever.

If I'm going to be honest, there's not that much difference between standard and high definition on a 32" screen. It's only really worth it if you go massive size (although future-proofing is also good).

IGN UK gave it a 9.9, probly not the full ten becuz it's a PS3 exclusive and they just gave GTA4 a 10. I rate games on how much I enjoy them, and I'm pretty sure that I will enjoy MGS4 more than GTA4, which was good, but over rated imo. I still need to play it before I actually say that tho and I think it is possible, though not as accurate to compare games of different genres.

Several of my friends who have Playstation 3's say it takes up alot of space that could be used otherwise. The problem isn't so much that it takes up space, but that it takes up space and it's MANDATORY.

got the metal gear essential collection (mgs1, mgs2, mgs3) already beat the first one, hopefully I'll beat the other ones by the 12th (#1 was amazing btw)

Word, I'm getting it for future proofing, and also, me mam's got a 39' LCD-HD so I can definitely tell the difference.
Plus I'm saving up for at least a 42" screen.

Let me just get this straight for once. Snake from #3 isn't solid snake from 1 and 2? The only I played was #3, so forgive me for my ignorance.

No, the Snake in 3 is the original Snake, who in later games (storyline time) is known as Big Boss. The snake in 1 and 2 is his clone son, who is also the main character in 4. Interestingly, it is rumoured that Big Boss will make a suprise show in 4.

I really do hope Big Boss appears in MGS4, how I have no freaking clue. Only 1 more day!

Just finished playing through 1, 2, and 3 with some friends (over the course of a few weeks of course)!! Pumped for MGS4!!

is is worth it playing thru 3 to get the story? I just beat 1 and 2 but im not sure if i shud get 4 then not play it until i beat 3.

I got this game today and already love it Online play is a bit meh however the actual game is awesome, I haven't played the last ones for a while so my stealthyness sucks atm but it's getting better. I'd recommend this game to anyone that has enjoyed the previous titles.

In answer to your question dahit, it might be best to play through the first three in order to get the fell of it and how the gameplay works. You can buy this game and enjoy it but you most likely wouldn't understand the story and inside jokes.

Im up to act 4 in mgs4! OMG act 4 is amazing so far, you go back to shadow moses at the same exact location of mgs1!!!!!!

but seriously, you MUST play metal gear solid 1 2 and 3 before this or else it ruins the whole story.

I think the graphics are incredible, even on my SDTV, the cinematics are better then ever, and the aiming of the guns, the whole shooting system now is amazing, and octocamo is sweet, i slip past guards just slithering like a snake and they don't know a thing.

I have msg2 and 3 and now 4, the only thing I need now is the original, which i miss so much.

I also need to get mgs3 substinence and replay it, it has better camera angles and multiplayer

Octocam is awesome Must better then the camo system in 3, I could never get more then 85% in that but with the octo I had 99%.

Also Metal gear solid 1 is good, you should get it despite it being old now
