      Mean Creek

Has anyone seen this 2004 independent film?

It's an R-Rated film aimed at teens. I know that sounds kind of weird, but the reason it was R is because they included ALOT of hateful and vulgar language, to make it seem as realistic as possible.

The film basically follows a young boy named Sam (Rory Culkin) who gets beat up by an overweight bully, George (Josh Peck). Sam tells his brother, and then they make a plan to get him back with a little prank. Sam, his brother Rocky, their friend Clyde, Rocky's friend Marty, Sam's girlfriend Millie and George all go out on a boating trip one day. Something goes wrong, and tragedy strikes.

Honestly, it was a powerful movie. Coming from me, seriously.. the last time I cried before this film was... almost half-a-year ago. It's a moving film. I suggest renting the DVD, and watching it. Just be aware that got alot of language in it, and very dirty/hateful language. All coming from kids from the ages 10-19.

      Excellent film.

Two posters for the film's worldwide release

The characters from left to right: Sam, Rocky, Millie, Marty, Clyde, George.

I honestly give it like.. a 9.5 out of 10.

Shit, spoiler tags aren't working.. hold on.

      Okay, I'ma try again.

For those who are interested in what happens, but don't want to rent the movie (you lazy bum), watch this video. The dialogue that causes the whole commotion is in a spoiler tag underneath the video.

      Spoiler for Dialogue:

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Well that's good. The whole point was for teens to watch it and get the message the filmmakers were trying to show. But it was hard to do do that with an R rating (17+) in the US.

I didn't "enjoy" it as much as I respected the message and the characters portrayed. It was very depressing, but... excellent.

I saw this years ago and I thought it was well acted.. it made you feel/empathize for all of the characters involved.
