That article doesn't seem to be very formal in its writing... where is it from, out of curiosity?

Back to the topic: stripping that girl of her gold medals as the big bad punishment is bull. The WHOLE TEAM needs to be stripped of their gold medals! It's not HER fault, it's the fault of everyone involved. Taking away one girl's medals is not a very just punishment, in my opinion.

And yeah I agree, she looked more like 10. But that may be because she was overworked and underfed in that gymnastics boot camp she attended from age 3.

      I'm pissed.

Yeah I did, it was awesome. Lots of fireworks and traditional dances/clothing. It was very beautiful too.

Yeah, I saw it. That shit is crazy, must be a big moment for whoever is involved in making it. But when they went closeup with the green men, it was creepy o_o

What the hell would aliens not think if they saw that?

I only caught glimpses of the cool stuff.. I only had time to watch all the diff countries march, but I guess I'll go online to find all the stuff I missed.

I've been watching swimming and gymnastics so far. I LOVE those sports (only at the Olympics tho ). Can't wait for diving, either.

I hope Phelps gets his 8 gold medals. Would be cool to see history in the making.

I really loved when the Tai Chi practitioners did their thing on the floor. Just the sight of 2008 of them doing what they did, in perfect unison, and forming a perfect circle - with no conductors or floor markings - was incredible.

Yeah i thought the opening ceremony was fantastic. That bit with the compass was the best, where they had those rows of paddles, the scroll in the middle etc. Very artistic. It had the feel of a great piece of music.

The extremely low level of enthusiasm for the actual games surprises me. I was with my friends today...

Me: So who's watching the olympics?
Friends: Uh... *twirls blond hair* I don't really watch sports.

I'm slowly becoming a sports fanatic, and I feel lonely.

It's funny, the games are playing on at least one television almost all day at my house. Every one of my friends that I have talked to has watched at least a few events, and plan to watch their favorites. We ended up talking about the Olympics for a good while this Saturday while waiting for UFC 87 to start.

I still haven't caught any badminton, or table tennis though, and those are my favorite two events. In reality, there are only four or so events that I don't like sitting through.

The male 4x100 freestyle relay was fucking amazing! A 4+ second faster time than the world record with a full body length comeback!
      Wow!

Parts of the opening ceremony were faked.

Even so, it was pretty spectacular.

And I can't believe Andy Murray has lost to someone 71 places lower than him in the tennis!!! Even by his standards, that's pathetic.

Still, the UK is doing quite well so far.

EDIT: Andy made up for it by winning his doubles game against a world number 1. They're looking good for a medal!

      Wow, that's a shocker.

But still, assuming the rest was real, that was amazing.

Its funny that you say that nobody watched it Mes, im one of those 'i hate sports' kinda people but every 2 years I do happen to watch the winter (my fav) or summer olympics.
      \

For people to not pay attention to them, they must not understand the value and history of the olympics, it brings the world together.

Plus, I got a new HDTV which makes the olypics kick ass

I would normal be in that "twirl my hair" group of sports hating but, i just have to watch a world event reguardless of my dislike for sports hehe

Olympic sports are more entertaining anyway, regular everyday sports puts me to bed, instantly.

I mean really, who cares about a bunch of states or cities facing off with each other? I don't

I know I just posted but, I JUST read an article that said the 2008 olympic ceremony fireworks were faked.

Thats right, the fireworks were digitally added to the broadcast..they didn't use any!

They actually announced that after the ceremony in the beijing times, they did it as an experiment to see how realistic they could add things to live broadcasts.

And there I was sitting there thinking they were real, wow...if they can fake fireworks I bet they could fake any video on tv, even the 9/11 crashes for gods sake, not that im implying it was edited..but im saying with this kind of realism they could fake an assassination for all we know lol

Yeah i really don't see the big deal about the fireworks. They were an insignificant part of the ceremony. The stadium stuff was far more impressive and had much more focus.
