This man was truly a genius, and it is unfortunate that he passed away. A very creative author, whose work has definitely influence popular culture and the way we see the world to this day. I will miss him.
actually, Jurasic Park had been a big idea long before he wrote the book.
How is that any less impressive? How many concepts are rehashed and told in an amazing way that might never have been? He took an idea, that was around at the time, and made into a masterful set of novels. Its one thing to say "hey, what if mankind brought back dinosaurs, created a preserve for them, and then the dinosaurs escaped and killed people" and it's another thing to actually write the story out, in full detail. Dunno if you ever read them, but they are both incredible stories.
No reason to get defensive, I was just noting something that probably none of you knew. In fact, I love his novels.
I read about this yesterday. Fantastic writer and a source of inspiration for my own stories.
Rest in peace, Michael Crichton. You will be missed.
damn... i loved reading his books. one of the greatest science fiction writers of all time.
I think Phillip K Dick was my favorite science fiction writer of all time by a long shot. He wrote a lot of them.
Jurassic Park was a favorite of mine for a long time though.
What?? No! I didn't even see this on the news! His books are great. I read most of his books. Timeline and The Lost World were amazing.
