Jeebus H. Christ, what in the world was that? Did someone make that level through an editor or is it a secret level in the Japanese version? Either way that was intense had some good anime tracks in there as well.

It was made with a level editor and Mario isn't controlled at all throughout the entire thing.

I believe it was created by a japanese guy. Took him 3 or 4 months to make it.

That's not true. There are a lot of moments of plain walking and jumping.

I think most, if not all, the surfaces were made to behave like ice.

And I'm pretty sure those where from things pushing him. When you play Mario and you let go of the buttons while running, he doesn't stop instantly.

Look more closely. How do you explain the running animation? I know for a fact that that requires a button to be held down.

The running animation can be seen throughout. You will notice that it only happens when Mario touches a certain type of block which gives him a thrust.
