      Vinyl

      ...what've ya got, fuckos?

I've got a serious music collection but just started collecting vinyl today(although I've been wanting to for years).

How do you go about getting new albums? Do you just go browse or do you go shopping with certain albums in mind?

I just bought my first 10 albums today...

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold As Love *
Alice Cooper - Greatest Hits *
The Doobie Brothers - What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits(Live album) *
Billy Joel - Piano Man *
      Michael Jackson - Thriller *
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water *
of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges
Bad Company - Bad Company *
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life(Greatest hits compilation) *
      (* = used)

Excellent! I love vinyl. It was all I bought in the early 80's. Then I got into tapes and lost a lot of my vinyl. Then I got into CD's and lost or sold all of my tapes. Now I have the internet and don't really care about CD's. But vinyl is so classic now that I am all for it. I only have about ten of them left from the old days, but I plan to start collecting again.

My dad has had hundreds of vinyl albums since the 70's. He recently started putting his favorite covers in frames and putting them on his walls.

If you ever happen to be in the Jackson, Mississippi area, I recommend going to a store in the suburb of Raymond. It is called The Little Big Store. It has been around for ages, and they sell vinyl LP's from a very large stockpile that has a revolving door on it. It's a jackpot for vinyl collectors.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Badass. I might be going down South(Ga. Fla.) this summer. I think a detour would be worth my time.

      Post your collection man.

My mom apparently had a 200+ record collection(some dupes that were unopened and mint) but my dad made her throw them all away.
I would have loved to have grown up with something like that.

Okay, this is what I have left on vinyl.

      Def Leppard
      High and Dry
      Pyromania

      Joni Mitchell
      Miles of Aisles
      The Hissing of Summer Lawns

      Hawkwind
      Hawkwind
      In Search of Space
      Hall of the Mountain Grill
      Quark Strangeness and Charm

      Motley Crue
      Shout at the Devil

      Ace Frehley
Ace Frehley (the solo album he recorded while he was still a member of Kiss)

      Camel
      Moonmadness

      Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin IV (also called Zoso)

      Sugarloaf
      Sugarloaf

I think some of my others got mixed in with my dad's collection. I also had a ton of 45's, which were little vinyl records that had one song on each side. Those are probably in a pile of old junk at my parents' house.

That's a pretty cool group you got.

I really want Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti but I can't find it anywhere.

Find Prince with the Song 'When the Doves Cry' and play it backwards

That was a big thing when I was a kid. My dad had a huge record collection and I think I played all of them backwards (including Metallica, 'Hair of the Dog (?)' and endless metal... the ONLY one that actually said anything was Prince's. (It said something like 'Jesus is God, Jesus is Lord' followed by some really evil-sounding laughter.)

Funny, considering he's now one of Jehovah's Witnesses (last I heard) lol. That's a HUGE change!!!

I've got stacks and stacks of vinyl. My dad was a dj, when I was a lil' kid, and when he passed, we were left with all of his music. I've got everything from Parliament Funkadelic to Bootsy Collins; Prince; Maze; Michael Jackson; the Jackson 5; Lakeside...Shit. I don't even know. I couldn't even begin to name all of the groups we have on vinyl.

Only problem is: I spin breakbeats, but am too broke to by some tables, so I haven't even been able to experiment with some of the old school records we've got boxed away.

Just bought 3 more... lol. Pretty soon I'm gonna need an intervention. It's so easy to just keep buying shit on Ebay.

Leftover Crack - Mediocre Generica & Fuck World Trade
Choking Victim - No Gods, No Managers

Edit: And I'm picking up a box of 150 records in a few days. Some guy on craigslist contacted me and said he'd give them to me for free.

I got a few records, by my record player broke a very long time ago.

I have various albums by these artists:
      The Beatles
      Meat Loaf
      Rod Stewart
The Big Chill Soundtrack <- pure awesomeness, but only the older people here will know
      Bob Dylan
