I loved you, but you didn't post a Nightwish song, so now I just like you.

And I suck at embedding videos, so someone else will have to do that.

It takes a good day for me to be in the Nightwish mood.

Today is hardly one of those days. Posted only for posterity.

Uh, you posted a non-Tarja Nightwish song. WRONG!

      Try a song from "Once."

EDIT: WakataDreamer, that's better, since Annete isn't singing in there.

Yeah I love Nightwish as well, but I had Kamelot on the brain.

      Sry

Maybe I can make it up to you with my two fave Nightwish songs...

      Last of the Wilds

      ...and...

Moondance (the colors are off, but the colors aren't what your listening too, are they?)

      Edit -

Oops, Last of the Wilds is non-Tarja. Sry, Mr. Particular

      But Moondance isn't!

Gotta love symphonic metal. Check out Within Temptation (especially the last album), Epica, Nightwish, After Forever, Rhapsody of Fire.

      I'm addicted to the genre.

Dreamflight (After Forever) - song talks about lucid dreaming:

//my dream is to sing like that. Progressed a lot thus far.

I could spend all night posting hundreds of vids, but the staff would probably complain +.+

My favorite is Nightquest by Nightwish. *cries* Why did Tarja leave!? I can't find her reason anywhere. Annette's still good but nowhere near Tarja.

I think Phantom of the Opera was a great remake by Nightwish, but I didn't like the male's voice for that part. I like Symphony X, personally http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxI6RYxt2p0

      Doing lists are we? Well....

      Nightwish
      Nemo
      7 Days to the Wolves
      Sahara
      Planet Hell
Over the Hills and Far Away
I am aware of the irony of my Annete bashing from before and having two songs of her era being up there. HOWEVER, she is decent in concert and I LOVE her blonde hair.

      Within Temptation
      Stand My Ground
      The Howling
      Jillian
      The Cross
      Solemn Hour

      Lacuna Coil
      I Won't Tell You
Heaven's a Lie (even though I'm Christian. Go figure)
      Closer
      Our Truth
      Shallow Life
They're closer to Doom Metal than symphonic, but still.

      Sirenia
      My Mind's Eye
The Lucid Door (see our Meta forum in a couple minutes)
      The Last Call
      The Other Side
      The Path to Decay
      Close enough.

      Can you see me now?

looove symphonic metal. Im happy to see it gaining a bigger and bigger following. I do like nightwish and within temptation...however I tend to like bands that use a male singer better. such as Rhapsody (of Fire), stratovarius and Sonata Arctica. Symphonic metal along with folk metal are my two very favorite styles of music~

OHH WATAKA, both of those instrumentals top my list as well, so magical!

anyways, here's some for ya, one from each of the mentioned bands

I just can't get into the feel of symphonic metal (which, I've recently come to the realization, is not synonymous with the term "melodic metal").

My man Slip tried to get me into Nightwish, but for some reason I can't take all the synth mumbo-jumbo seriously. I much prefer melodic metal, wherein just about every note is voiced in guitar.

Don't get me wrong, symphonic metal is usually well-composed, it's just...well, the use of synth should really be used sparingly in any kind of rock/metal, IMO. But, that's just a personal oversight of mine. I'm sure if I was some synth-worshiping techno-geek, I would eat it all up.

on the contrary...I think many fans of symphonic metal are actually fans of classical like I am. seeing as the synth is usually used as either piano of violins

I see nothing wrong with the synth. You must be a synth hater. To me, it doesn't really matter how the art is done, as long as it's well-made.

I'm kind of neutral on the whole synth object. I usually don't like it, but as long as the band does it well, I don't really have a problem with it.

      See how silly presumptuousness is?

Anyway, it's not that I don't like synth, I just like...you know...real-sounding instruments better. If you're gonna have have a song that utilizes a "string ensemble" harmony, isn't it better to find an actual string quartet or something to collaborate on your song with you, rather than just doing it the mechanical, lifeless way that synth has to offer?

That's a rhetorical question, by the way, because yes - it is better.
