      Music Recommends

Just reached the 40G club on tunes.

I'm severely lacking in the good [rap, techno/elct, psychedelic] departments. Any recommendations? I'm not really into the jizz they play at clubs and RVs.

      I have an ear for:

      fast and loud
      socio/political
      original

I also want something 'xylophonic tonewise'? (I can try to elaborate) to zone out to.

      Thanks.

I don't listen to a lot of that type of music lately. I mostly do indie rock type stuff, now that I'm 100 years old.

I hope you already have tons of Amon Tobin. If not, check him out. Also, old Meat Beat Manifesto is good. Have you listened to any Jamie T? I haven't been able to get his CD out of my car's player for a few years, now. I'm assuming you already have a bunch of Aphex Twin?
      Boards of Canada?
      Teddybears?
      DJ Shadow?
      The Go! Team?

Lala.com helps me find a ton of good new music. It will sync your whole itunes collection and upload anything they don't already have on their servers. I haven't been too happy with Pandora, lately.

In terms of originality, you need to check out the Anticon collective, particularly
      Alias
      Sole
      DoseOne

but there's many other artists signed with Anticon.
The artists signed to the label typically collaborate with each other and other artists under various names, so it can be a bit hard to track, but they're all listed on their site.

Other people who come out with really original stuff
      Atmosphere
      Buck65
      Boom Bip

Also for political stuff, look no further than,
Sage Francis - "A Healthy Distrust" is awesome
      Aesop Rock

      Also check out
      MF DOOM
particularly his collaboration with DangerMouse (as DangerDoom), and with Madlib (as Madvillain)

I'm into rock, but there are some rock/rap crossover bands I can recommend.

Beastie Boys (little more hip-hop than rap.)

Rage Against the Machine. It's like, metal rap. It's Fast and loud, original, and very political.

I also like Whole Wheat Bread (don't judge me) and Fort Minor, though a lot of people don't take that as rap.

Now, if you need rock or metal, come to me.

      Also, 1000th post! yay!
