      I don't really like stories about teenagers that come across some type of bizarre power and have to use it to fight off some type of incredible evil that will otherwise destroy the world.

      Teen fiction just isn't my thing, I guess.

      The books were great, I've read all five.
      But in the Lightining Thief, Percy was 12.
      That kid doesn't look twelve.
      If they can't even get an actor that is the right age, I'm afraid of how bad the rest of the movie will be.
      This shit never happens to me

      I was actually thinking the same thing. But I still want to see the movie. If I end up liking it, I will hope that they make the rest of the books into movies.

      I watched this earlier with my sons, with mixed reviews.
      We've all read the books (well, I'm currently on the last one).
      Let's just say, as a MOVIE, it was decent/good. BUT it did not stay true to the book which irked me way too much.

      They so did that to make it appeal to teenage/tweenage girls. >:{

      I haven't read the books, but if I bother seeing the movies, I will read the books first.

      Daniel Radcliffe was cast at around the same age as harry was i the book and he looks much older now.
      At the last book, Percy is 16.
      they're going to have a tough time with that, unless they change it completely.

      I read the books quite a while ago. I was wondering when they'd make them into movies! I can't wait to go see the Lightning Thief, I just hope they didn't screw it up.

      This movie mutilates the original mythology so badly it physically hurts.
