      Remixes

Do you like songs that have been remixed?

I rarely do. For me, making it faster and adding extra stuff kinda ruins the song.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

No, I hate it when they do that. If I like the song, then it just sounds wrong when they mess with it, and if I don't like the song ... I still don't like the song. No point in remixing.

Sometimes. A lot of them are terrible, but I can pick out a few that just are far better than the originals and just spectacular. But yes, there's a lot of crap remixes out there.

If the song is a true classic, tampering with it makes it sound terrible.

But, if it's somewhere in the genre of electronic, then it has been my experience that remixes sound better more often than they don't..

It just depends on the song and what they do with it. It is possible to make badass even more badass, but it's easier to compound epic fail .

When done right, a remix can be many times better than the original piece. Even if it's just as good as the original piece, it still makes it successful if the original was enjoyable to begin with.

      Example:

      Original

      Remix

I agree with Invader. There are some songs out there shitty production. Get Retarded, by Canibus is a great example. The lyrics are 10/10, but the beat itself blows. I heard another version of it where the only thing that was changed was the beat, and it sounded epic. I wish i could find them to link, but just take my word for it.

Now if they're just making a dance mix of the song, I hate it. It's basically telling the person who originally produced the song "hey your beat is cool, but I'm just going throw it away, and to use some over used bullshit, while upping the RPMs er BPMs".

and yes. anyone making 'dance mixes' of a song is more amused by the dancing than the actual music. which is fine if it's just going to be in a club with UNCE UNCE UNCE

Depends on how the original sounded. If the original was okay, but not necessarily great, then more often than not, remixes will sound better:

      Spoiler for :

But if the song was really good in the first place, remixes can range from "meh" to terrible.

Spoiler for Example of a "meh" remix::

I listen to the radio all almost 24/7. I hate it when they have those nights that they broadcast from a club and all you hear is non-stop remixed songs. I normally turn off the radio and plug my ipod into my iHome.

Daft Punk did a lot of remixing and got remixed themselves.

Their song "Prime Time of Your Life" got remixed by Para One and it rocked.
They remixed "Chord Memory" by Ian Pooley, and their version is better than the original!

That is true, some songs do sound better remixed. I didn't really think about that.

I really can't say I don't. Most of the time, I enjoy remixes, because it's a new take on a familiar song. Sometimes you get remixes that aren't really worth listening to, but some are pretty good.

I point to Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory album getting remixed into the Reanimation album. Those are some good remixes as far as I'm concerned. I like the two versions of My December they did.

I was going to do the exact same thing that Invader did to illustrate my point, but he did it for me

But it all comes down to the skill of the artist that is doing the remix.
