      Depeche Mode

Please tell me there are at least a few other people here who are fans of Depeche Mode. I've only really gotten into them for about a year now, but at this point I have every single album of theirs, including B-sides and demos. I saw them in concert last summer, and it was UNBELIEVABLE.

What I particularly love about them is that their whole discography spans a wide variety of sounds and evolution of moods, so no matter how I am at any point in time, there's always at least a few songs of theirs that I'm in the mood to listen to. From their early days of bouncy, poppy synth dance hits to some very earthy, grungy mature alternative to some very atmospheric, chilled, introspective songs, and everywhere in between (well, I'd go as far as to say that everything they've done has lots of atmosphere to it). There's no songwriter quite like Martin Gore.

Personal Jesus is my favorite at the moment.

"Enjoy the Silence" was one of my favorite songs when I was 12

I liked them through my teens and early 20s, own a couple of cds, and still appreciate their old tunes on some level, but like a lot of stuff I liked back then, it's all pretty angsty/depressive. I might have said that they and other stuff I liked then covered a wide range, but the truth is that range is almost entirely at the low end, mood-wise. There just aren't a lot of occasions when I want to pull out something like that anymore.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I am currently learning some of their songs for the first time.

So far I really like the song "In Chains"
