      Alice in Wonderland the movie

Does anybody think the new Alice in Wonderland movie looks good?

I'm going to see it with my friend. (she's forcing me)

I honestly think it looks...odd. I don't want to see it. What do you think about it?

You're right. I think they've completely lost it. I mean, a lady with a giant head? I don't think that's in the origional Alice in Wonderland. Or is it?

Added: Oh, I didn't know it was her RETURN to Wonderland.

Yeah. Get the original book with the original illustrations and you'll see, guys.

I'm looking forward to it, pretty excited. I disliked the one Disney made. Today, I'm going to see a theatre production of it and then go see Alice on Saturday or so. Let's see how they compare. I personally couldn't sit through the disney one, guess I had gotten too old. This one looks like it captured the themes as I interpreted them well. I've heard people say Burton uses these themes over and over, but I'm not all too familiar with him, so oh well.

      I'm disappointed by narrow-minded generalisations.

Tim Burton is hardly one of the more commercial directors these days. He seems like he does projects because he simply wants to these days, and much of the cast seem to think likewise.

      This.

I like what Tim Burton does. He has clear motifs throughout his work and I tend to like most of them.

Tim Burton's always willing to experiment and as such his movies range from excellent to not so good. Apparently Alice is not so good though.

The only Alice in Wonderland I've seen is the Disney one in both the book and the movie so I had no idea. I guess I had the wrong idea the whole time...

Also, I believe this movie is also owned by Disney.

If Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was any indication, it's probably best to stay away from any and all Burton remakes. God, that movie blew compared to the Gene Wilder movie.

I think it'll be a pretty good movie. I'm going to see it on saturday, I believe, and I'm certainly looking forward to it. Tim Burton have made some nice movies.

You have to see a film like that on drugs because that seems to be a tradition with this film, and it's kinda like tim burton himself is an acid head lol.

I actually thought the chocolate factory remake was pretty good, I saw most of it, and the effects and johnny depp were great, the original was so great though too.

I wonder how this new film will do.

Oooh, I detested the Charlie remake. My theatre buds and I are going to see the movie tomorrow. Let's see if it meets our expectations.

Personally, I'm going for the visuals. I want to see how Burton presents Wonderland and Alice too, though.. I'm going with low expectations in the plot area, maybe I'l be pleasantly surprised.

I'm going for the visuals as well. I can't really remember the Disney film and I have never really read Alice in Wonderland besides maybe a condensed version or excerpt. I'm a pretty big poser I guess, haha.

      thankyou, christian.

gotta put out mainstream drivel, that's what people pay to see.

I haven't actually read Dahl's book but I believe Burton's movie stuck closer to the original story. but I completely agree, the Gene Wilder movie was infinitely better.

I really don't like Tim Burton in general, though. I hate his pseudo-goth style, the only movie of his that I like at all is Beetlejuice, and that was made in the 80s.

I'm so tired of the Burton-Depp team, too. Burton can put out any heap of shit, and people will lap it up. and if it stars Johnny Depp, all the more.

I think Burton is extremely overrated, but people love his shit because it's pretty much the only dark fantasy (and still family friendly) stuff that makes it to the mainstream theatres. I don't care what anyone says, his style is lame. it's a lousy, diluted, PG kind of wannabe dark.

I think I'm still going to see this piece of shit with my cousin next week, but you can bet your ass I'll be drunk and high (I couldn't be dragged otherwise). hey, maybe then I'll actually like it. but probably not.

I really, really wish they'd made Living Neon Dreams instead. now that would have been a great movie. I can't find anything on what happened to it.

Spoiler for tricksy typing breaks forum layout for some users:

Tim Burton makes the same movie every time but that doesn't imply it's a bad movie. It's a good one done over and over. Johhny Depp has been waiting his whole life to play this role. I saw it tonight with my bros, got blazed and came out cruisin. Actually I have no idea if it was good or not. But it was fun.

Feels good. Maybe you should appreciate more art than anime, catch my drift, crazydreamergurl?

It was pretty good, guys. I just saw it a few hours ago. The 3D was good, and the story could've been a bit better in some areas. Johnny was a very interesting Hatter. All of the Wonderland characters were great. I especially loved the Cheshire cat.
