Thread: Zombie Survival Strategy

Here's the scenario.

Not too long ago, a person was bitten in a case of "domestic violence". After falling severely ill, they were carted off to the local hospital. The county/parish government kept everything hush-hush.

Over the course of two day much of the police department set up defensive positions around the hospital. In an ensuing gun battle, the police are overrun by the living dead. The entire hospital is filled with zombies.

Now, your county/parish is raging with the living dead. These zombies must have the brain destroyed to die, and have the other physical capabilities of the zombies from Max Brooks' book. They are smart enough to avoid fire, retreat, or dodge attacks, but still are too stupid to do something like open a door. There are a few mutated ones, called "commanders", that are capable of simple tactics and leading small groups of zombies.

There are survivor bands scattered about, but most humans are dead. The military has a small compound that they are fighting from, and the remnants of the police department are holed up in one small spot.

THE COUNTY/PARISH
The county/parish/etc. you live on is a small island with a deciduous forest. The town surrounds a bay in the east. In the western half of the island is farmland. There are two hospitals, both overrun and being defended by commander zombies, and the police department was overrun by crowds of panicking humans. Several local schools, designed specifically for defense against riots, are filled with whoever stayed inside/got inside, now fighting against sieges. There are gun stores, some looted, and factories. Many accidents happened early on, causing fires and other disasters that leave this town looking like it was struck by a WWII bombing run.

The police is hiding in a cluster of buildings. The mall was overrun when some fools tried to hide there, as was the Wal-Mart. The farmers are doing best. The military landed on the northern point of the island with a small unit of infantry and cavalry and built a little compound. They have their own siege of zombies, preventing them from helping.

You live in an apartment building. When the siege began, you fortified. You have 2-days worth of food and water left (the water was shut off). You have a pistol and 100 bullets. The apartment has been broken into by zombies, led by 1 commander zombie. You are on the eighth story. What do you do?
