Report: Denmark to lay claim to North Pole – This Just In - CNN.com Blogs
It's the first time any of the five countries with coasts in the arctic ocean have done so. The countries being Canada, Norway, Russia, Denmark (through Greenland), and the US (Alaska).
Don't fret. The 2020 North Pole wars will be fought largely with robots and will make for fucking awesome films.
Its funny cause its gonna happen :D

If it was all water there would be a lot of shipping going through there, so if it all melts and they claim it, it is actually to their advantage. They probably saw it was melting and figured they better grab it while they can.
All the northern countries have been fighting over the high arctic for years now. Mostly due to oil and natural gas reserves.
Let the Danish have it. It would be actually pretty good addition to the Greenland. Like having a set. After all, they have only legos and er... well the Little Mermaid statue. Oh, yeah and that highest hills of theirs (170m).
