They'd be stupid not to plan all manner of military strategies. Planning does not mean they're actually going to do it.
Hell, there's probably a plan somewhere in the Pentagon for the invasion of Canada. Does that mean the US is going to invade Canada?
:-?
I agree with cmind and you really got to make that distinction. If you ask me, is china making plans to do it? I would say yes, that seems like a very possible and perhaps likely thing. If you ask me, do they expect to carry it out? I would say it is probably very unlikely.
The reason it is very unlikely, is because they could never possibly hit all our nuclear weapons, and the ultimate result of such an attack would be them getting nuked back.
Dem damn Commies are at it again!

Seriously though, I don't really know what to make of that. It seems unlikely that China would ever instigate a war with America, because of all the trade links. They're simply too valuable to each other. I think that's been mentioned on a similar topic on the forum before. But you never know.
All I can say is, if it does turn out to be true, then.....whoa....
Oneironaut gets most of his info from Weekly World News nowadays.

Chinese hackers (claiming not affiliated with the govt) are already engaged in a cyber espionage war with the West. Furthermore, they have a crisis of way too many men vs women. They've also got an energy crisis and are still wading through a food crisis. This inbalance of men and women combined with poverty is the reason the Danes started viking Europe. All I'm saying is all the elements are there.
No. Maybe FOXNews does.
Will China Launch A Nuclear 9/11? | Fox News
This huge story seems to be almost entirely absent from the internet, and the first article I can find about it is the WWN thing. Everything else I've seen is blogs and loonies (e.g. Fox) repeating various details.
That's what I'm seeing, so far, too. And believe me, I wouldn't defend FOXNews for shit, but they are pretty mainstream for something like this, if there is no backing to it whatsoever. I mean, it's not like it would be the first time they've lied about anything, but you have to wonder about whether or not FOX is being alarmist (as they often do), or if other media outlets are refraining from posting such an uncorroborated story (which they sometimes do, and for good reason). I checked around for it on other sites like Reuters and BBC, but saw nothing.
Do you think the whole story is fabricated, or do you think other sources have just figured the incident as not worth printing?
Obviously not.
If you already know about, it's not a surprise anymore.
Sounds like something from Fox News instead of a legitimate news org. China is our ally and is very dependent on the US for their economy.
While it is technically true that the US and Chinese economies have become so mutually dependent disaster for one spells disaster for the other (especially if it's our disaster, they're much more dependent on us then us on them, we can find people to make cheap shit) you also have to realize China is in a trickier and trickier position every day. Looking at the situation realistically, they wouldn't want to do anything to the US that hurts them but that doesn't mean they'd see anything particularly damaging about claiming assets in return for debt payment. Are we gonna give those assets away? Our government is but are the people going to take that shit when chinese military come in to protect their new investments?
The Japanese thought of invading us once...
Not saying nukes are a good defense tactic. Actually there's a quote where some Japanese dude was warning his superiors not to invade the US because if the US got involved in WW2 they'd switch all their industries over to weapons, boats and tanks and out produce everyone else in artillery.
But that's not even what I'm referring to. I'm referring to a quote from Call of Duty saying something like "If the US were ever invaded there'd be a rifle behind every blade of grass" also made a Japanese warning his military.
Racist paranoia, awesome.
Here's the racist part
Han Chinese refugees have been displaced all over indigenous parts of china and tibet both in order to combat their population crisis as well as patiently shift these regions to a more nationalist view. This strategy takes generations longer than invasion but is difficult to fight because you essentially have to kill innocent refugees displaced by their military. Right now the only reason the United States isn't flooded by Chinese is their strict immigration laws. However, because China is buying US assets they're getting special green cards for Han Chinese to enter the US as workers. This is the chinese invasion pran
I get my truth from FMA too.
I'm like Glenn Beck. I don't know for certain if china plans to invade the US with missiles or refugees or anything. I just make all the evidence seem that way >=D
Japan never really intented to invade the US. They just thought they would destory all of our ships then since we would be at a huge disadvantage we would make peace, and they could go about their business invading countries near them without us bothering them.
Everyone is just going to assume that China is dependant on the U.S. until the bombs start going off. The U.S. is nothing more than a stepping stone for China. They used us as consumers so that they could develop their industry and middle class. Now that they have all the factories and their middle class is starting to take root, eventually they will be able to produce goods for their own population and will not need American consumers anymore. We are now more dependent on them, because we have almost no producers of consumer goods left in this country. If we stop buying from china, they will still be able to sell their goods. If they stop selling to us, we are fucked.
China is also ready for war in another way; they have started building empty cities. Seems like a good thing to have if they think there is a chance some of their existing cities may be bombed in the near future.
It would probably be a good idea to move out before you get nuked then.
For China to attack the US would be like the banker who I owe $10,000 to coming to my house and shooting me.
Interestingly enough, when my dad walked in and I explained why I had 3 windows of economic statistics open on my laptop, he mentioned that Nostradamus predicted that there would be a great war, in which China would be the aggressor but be defeated.
I live less than 10 minues outside of Philadelphia, though, so chances are the initial strike would kill me before I knew what was going on.
The truth would be closer to your analogy if you were also a lawmaker and you made a credible threat to the banker that if he ever tries to collect on the debt, you'll pass a law that would allow you to pay him back in monopoly money.
