4 Chrysler brands and Jaguar are 5 least reliable vehicles of 2011.

Lexus tops as survey finds more auto dependability - Yahoo! Autos

Three of the top 5 are owned by Toyota, 4 of the bottom 5 are owned by Chrysler.

Now WHY did we bail that company out again? They failed for a reason...

OH WAIT, I get it. If our cars are absolute shit, we have to help stimulate the economy with repairs more often. Totally makes sense

      *CORRECTION: The model-year was 2009, not 2011.

      The most reliable is Lexus.
Lexus owners reported 86 problems per 100 vehicles.

      Jesus....

I still think most problems come from trying to save costs in manufacturing.
It's a wonder people still buy cars if even the best ones have problems with 86% of them.

I don't think they are just trying to save on costs, they are trying to force repairs and repurchases. If dishwashers and refrigerators lasted for 20+ years like they USED to, no one would need to buy more. Our old refrigerator made it a good 20 years; we only replaced it because it was too small.

Our old dishwasher FINALLY kicked the bucket, and the new one is an absolute piece of crap; it feels like it's made of Dixie cups sometimes.

Although to be fair, people are very stupid with cars; if they don't treat them well they are going to have problems. We got our last Toyota beyond 200,000 miles, and someone is still driving it out there, somewhere, a '96. Currently, our '02 Toyota is about to hit 160,000 and it still runs like when we purchased it (used, of course.) I plan on driving that thing to 250,000 and beyond.

And don't even get me started on self-assembly furniture made from particle board. I've seen better furniture made from CARDBOARD. (No seriously, I have.)

      Spoiler for Cardboard Furniture:

^ Those people are pretty awesome I must say.

Yeah, cardboard furniture is awesome. I've seen this in person before

You may have a point about the repairs/new models thing. Although that sort of ties in with saving costs too, as more breakable components are generally cheaper.

It pisses me off. I've often thought about starting a company and manufacturing high quality products. I wouldn't care about making a huge profit.
And also a supermarket with only products from ethical companies and recyclable/biodegradable packaging.

I have no idea how I would get started, and probably wouldn't get funded anyway. But it's a nice thought lol

If you were manufacturing high-quality products, I'd be willing to pay more for those. I pay more for glass-bottled cane-sugar than I would for a Pepsi or Coke product. (plus Strawberry Lime is unavailable from any other major soda distributor.) And sustainability is a major factor in my purchases (which are rare, but I do have to buy things like food and the occasional new coat. If you want an ethical outerwear company you can't beat Patagonia.)
