It was a disaster, but the effects are/will be considerably less noticeable than the accident itself, hence why it's difficult to report on in the news now.
This whole thing is still going on to my knowledge. I check back in on it every month or so. A 12 mile radius of land is off limits, displacing many thousands of people. The reactors are still "hot."
The reason I imagine we stopped hearing about it is there is no big change, it is horrable and will still be horrable next month, so no real story.
Because they didn't become critical like Chernobyl.
I heard recently that a dock from Japan washed up on the beach in....Oregon I believe. The disaster remains in the news if you read thoroughly.
I imagine as more trash shows up it will become more of a story again in the United States.
And every spring we will probably get an update on the event for progress.
Next earthquake in Japan will bring the whole story back to light in a scary way for many people. Indeed it was not long ago I heard about some earthquakes in the region that didn't cause significant issues for the populace so it was only a minor mention here, but people are still paying close attention even if you or I don't.
Maybe because lately a bunch of events one behind the other followed.
To an almost suspicious rate if you can be calm enough to watch.
As the others said, some people are still talking about it. I know of a blogger who is making a documentary about her own experiences, as well as the people she's close to. The focus is on how the tsunami and radiation have been affecting fishermen and surfers.
We are all radioactive.
Why is no one talking about it? Because the country continues to produce awesome anime like naruto shippuden :<
The same is true of the oil spill in the gulf of mexico. People in florida to lousianna have gotten life threatening illnesses just from swimming in the water. The poisoning goes on today.
Media only wants footage that will shock people, like all that kony bs.
