Congress almost sold out U.S. gun rights to the U.N.

This is an extreme outrage. Interestingly, it is not much of a mainstream news media story. I don't answer to the governments of other countries. They can screw themselves.

Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.
Haha a foreign power. The US runs the UN.

The U.N. is controlled by many countries, and the U.S. has been outvoted in the U.N. many times. Did the U.N. invade Iraq like the U.S. government wanted them to? No. We don't control the U.N. We just have strong influence in it. I have never voted for a U.N. official in my life, and that's because I can't. They have no business telling me what to do with my gun, and they have no business putting me on an international gun registry for guns that remain internationally legal for however long that legality would last. These one world government scum bags in the U.S. Congress need to be recalled out of office. The only law I recognize as legitimately pertaining to me is rooted in the U.S. Constitution.

You can't recall a senator for a difference in opinion regarding the constitution. If you could the fucking patriot act should have ousted all of them.

Anyway, this sort of thing, even if it passed, would hypothetically be blocked by the Supreme Court. That's what it's there for. It's the Supreme Court that is now enforcing equal marriage rights throughout the country (even though they're blaming Obama and Holder for it because it's their job to enforce the Supreme Court's decision).

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I do think the Supreme Court would strike it down, but still, fuck the Senate for trying to sell out the Second Amendment to people the American public can't vote for or against.

I don't think Senators should be recalled just for a difference of opinion. They should be recalled for trying to give foreign powers authority over a U.S. domestic matter, one that is a Constitutional issue. I also think it should be done through votes, not some automatic ejection policy. We don't have a federal set up for recalling Senators, but under the Tenth Amendment, the states have the authority to handle recall elections concerning the Senators they have sent to Congress. But who all is aware of the existence of the Tenth Amendment any more?

It blows my mind that the story is not all over the media. I know how shady the media is, but their actions never cease to amaze me. This is such an enormous issue, and it's not being treated like one. What a backwoods hick on Duck Dynasty thinks about gay people is a much bigger deal to most Americans. So is how well Peyton Manning threw the football in his last game. Our biggest problem is that the masses don't give a shit about what really matters any more. That is why the government has gotten so corrupt. A government will do that when public passion is down, just like a sickness will flourish when an immune system is down.

At this point there's no apology for American Media. They've blacked out coverage of Ukraine's revolt and interrupted a former congresswomen talking about the NSA to bring breaking news on Justin Bieber. And that's CNN, Fox News is even worse. I recently read an interesting article about the psychological effect of watching fox news even if you're a liberal. You're not going to cheer on their awful propaganda but the news they don't give you will shape your perception in other ways. The fact that they only cover poverty when they're showing homeless people scamming the system will eventually wear down your motivation to help the impoverished. Their lack of coverage gives the viewer a lack of interest.

The creepy thing is that this extends to CNN and MSNBC as well. What they cover is not nearly as important regarding propaganda as what they don't cover. Their greatest leverage of oppression is fooling people into believing they're informed when they're not so people don't complain when food stamps are cut, they don't bat an eye. People don't see what's going on in the Ukraine because then maybe people here would think we're capable of doing the same thing.

Yeah, it's really messed up. There is a great deal of major stuff going on in the world that the mainstream media won't touch. Whenever some controversy over a celebrity's politically incorrect comment becomes the biggest story in the country, that is a sign that Congress is about to pass something they don't want the public talking about. The Duck Dynasty nonsense went on while Congress snuck the NDAA for 2014 through and voted to keep the provisions that allow indefinite detention and killing of U.S. citizens without trial. The George Zimmerman trial went on at the same time as the Bradley Manning trial. The country was arguing about gay marriage when Congress passed a law that gives special privileges to a specific corporation, Monsanto. The distractions keep happening. Either the government is manipulating certain situations they know will affect the mainstream media at certain times or the government is working directly with the mainstream media.

Technically Bradley Manning's trial started last summer. It was also completely blacked out.

The sad thing is the media has a responsibility and it's failing. It makes my heart shudder, not just that they're using their voice to waste time vilifying Justin Bieber but that they're doing that instead of covering shit we can actually do something about as citizens if we just get informed to action. There is something wrong in a society where the working class need food stamps in order to survive, government intelligence agencies wield their power in pursuit of personal vendettas and whistle-blowing gets you 35 years in prison but rape gets you a warning.

I mean it's not only terrifying that that's happening, the most terrifying part is that people are talking more about how the fifth ring failed to open at the winter olympics. I understand this kind of shit is depressing, but the news media did it's fucking job and put stories in people's faces that are actually relevant to our society then we wouldn't be facing this kind of shit anymore.

The Manning trial was going on when the Zimmerman verdict was the biggest news story in the country. The Manning verdict wasn't big news. It was majorly overshadowed by the issue of whether or not some former gated community guard in Florida is a racist. That was one of the things that majorly shaped my view on this. Whenever a racism or homophobia controversy is the big national story, it's a sign that the government might be up to something really shady.
